In the effort to discover what is correct, might we be able to resolve some considerable differences in postings on the family of Absolom EILAND, 1750-1814, and Ann Nancy DANIEL, 1753-1839? Both died in Jones Co., GA, but are said to have been born in either NC, SC, or GA. This EILAND family's association with James DANIELL of Fairfield Co., SC, and Greene and Hancock Cos., GA in the 1780s and 90s, coupled with their naming a son Levi Daniel EILAND in 1791 has intrigued me for years. Levi DANIELL, my third great-great-grandfather was James' youngest son. CIRCUMSTANTIAL EVIDENCE suggests that Ann DANIEL may be a daughter of James DANIELL of Fairfield County, SC and his as yet unproven first wife. James died in Hancock County, GA before 5 March 1798. This tentative assignment MAY NOT BE CORRECT. Some post Ann and Absolom married in 1775 in Fairfield Co., SC, others say in Johnston Co., NC, or GA. Some say her father was James DANIEL (d. 1797 in Hancock Co., GA) and her mother was an Ann Nancy SANKEY who purportedly died 18 January 1814 in Baldwin Co., GA; BUT, this Nancy was not a SANKEY. She was Nancy HARDWICK, the second wife and widow of James DANIELL who had remarried in 1802 to James BARROW of Baldwin Co. The case for Ann being James' daughter and why James' widow cannot be Ann Nancy SANKEY is posted at http://roloda.googlepages.com/home. Click "What is correct?" under DANIEL, EILAND, DANIELL, SANKEY on the right side of the page. The compilation of conflicting information and explanations is a bit long to post here. It will also be easier to make potental corrections in a single place rather than trying to correct multiple copies and miss one. Any assistance, corrections, or additional information are welcome and appreciated. Bob Daniell Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
