    3. Hello, Clay -- I appreciate your offer.  However, I am not yet aware of any Daniel decendants in this century.  My gg-grandfather, Alexander Ewing Harris Jr., married Amanda Eliza Daniel in Decatur Georgia after the war.  They were living next to her sister Virginia and her husband, Augustus John Bell, on the 1870 Decatur county census, and then the two families and the father William Daniel went to Texas.  We have found the family on the 1850 census in Decatur County. Since our Harrises were very connected to the CSA, it's likely that some of the boys were killed in the War.  Eugean Alfred and Robertus Asbury are on the 1870 census, though, so they survived (the War, at least - there was a bad yellow fever epidemic in early 1870s Decatur County, am thinking that was part of why they went to Texas). I will also forward this to a cousin who may know more.  We were hoping that these more unusual family names might be helpful! In particular Solomon is a big name in our Hiram Daniel family from North Carolina/Tennessee. (If you remember, Hiram helped Solomon build the Temple). At any rate, I would be eager to see if you could find a Daniel descendant from this family who would be willing to take the DNA test. I will arrange and pay. Our North Carolina/Tennessee family has recently (This year, 2009) discovered we have Georgia relatives but as yet are unable to connect them to our family tree. I'm going to forward an email to the list from our best family historian on his speculations. More soon. Stay in touch.
