My ancester, Jackson Daniel (sometimes listed as Andrew Jackson Daniel), stated he was born in Roane County, Tennessee. He was born sometime around 1829-1832. On the 1880 census, he lists his parents as being born in South Carolina. Jackson married Nancy E Hawkins in Greene County, Missouri in 1853. The lived in Barry County, Missouri in 1860. In 1865, they were in Miami County, Kansas. By 1870, they were back in Polk County, Missouri. In 1880, they were in Dade County, Missouri. After Nancy's death, Jackson married her sister Amanda (Manda) M Hawkins Ince. Jackson died about 1886, supposedly in Arkansas. Jackson was listed as a "mulatto" on the 1860 census. It is believed that he was part Cherokee. Jackson's daughter, Margaret Gertrude Daniel Mitchell, is quoted as saying that her father walked the Trail of Tears.
