I've been looking at this thread with some interest but nothing seemed to connect. Carolyn Smotherman's posting helped a bunch. I got to looking in the LDS 1880 US Census and kept drawing a blank. Then it occurred to me to just look for a B. Daniel. C.H. DANIEL Self M Male W 30 MS Farmer TN MS N.C. DANIEL Wife M Female W 29 TN Keeping House TN TN Wm.E. DANIEL Son S Male W 5 TN MS TN Mary E. DANIEL Dau S Female W 3 TN MS TN B.K. DANIEL Son S Male W 1 TN MS TN Hurricane, Moore Co, Tennessee Hello Cousin, actually double cousin. Charles (C.H.) Daniel's father Thomas K. Daniel was born, in Tenn as the census shows, on March 9, 1817 to Robert C. & Nancy Kimsey Daniel. Thos. K. moved to Mississippi near Port Gibson and married Joliann Boren Oct 21, 1844. Between 1845 and 1850 they had three children: Charles, Thomas, and William. You can find them in the 1850 census in Warren Co Miss. Warren Co is where Vicksburg is located, and just north of Claiborne Co where Port Gibson is located. Thomas Daniel is listed as an "overseer". Thos. K. Daniel died Jan 3, 1851, leaving a widow and children. My great-grandfather Humphrey Posey Kimsey Daniel must have showed up to settle the affairs of his brother Thos. K, and H.P.K Daniel married Joliann Boren's sister Elizabeth Caroline Boren on April 22, 1851. Joliann Boren Daniel passed away March 26, 1859 at age about 33 at the home of R.C. Daniel in Bedford Co Tenn. By the 1860 census Charles & William were living with Wilford D. Boren in Claiborne Co Miss and next door to Humphrey & Caroline Daniel. Wilford is listed as a "planter", Humphrey as an "overseer". We have a cousin Don Daniel who now lives in Ohio who is also from this Thomas K. & C.H. Daniel line. He is part of our Daniel DNA project and a match with me. I forgot all that I had learned, and failed to record Don's line as well as I should have in my gedcom files. I'm going to correct this as soon as possible as I don't want to keep going this again and miss out on a real cousin. Much more later. Clay C. Daniels, Jr. Fort Worth, Texas clay.daniels@sbcglobal.net Also, Carolyn Smotherman, thanks for all your help over the years. We seem to have lost touch. Don't know if you heard, but my cousin Evelyn Daniel Van Meter passed away week before last. She is buried in Bomar Cemetery. Evelyn did a lot to document the family history of the Robert C. Daniel family. She will be missed. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
