I found some of your posts and was hoping you would respond. Whatever the relationship between your Tilmon R. Daniel and my Westmorelands... he was kin. He has to be. My interest: Sarah Westmoreland (sis/o Reuben Westmoreland) marr to my "elder" Wm Wells of Giles CO TN. They are my ancestors by their son Ransom H Wells. & Charles Neal, by his first wife Jemima, had a daughter Mary. This Mary marr to Ransom H. Wells (the same Ransom listed above). They are all my ancestors. Charles Neal marr 2nd to Elizabeth Abernathy the relict of Reuben Westmoreland. = My interest in your Tilmon R. Daniel! >>Do you know where the Westmorelands came from? Yep. Reuben Westmoreland and my Sarah were the children of Thomas. Thomas marr to Edith [some list her as Edith nee Nipper]. It is "assumed" that Edith was the mother of these children of Thomas; I do not know = I haven't gotten that far in my research. Edith the relict of Thomas Westmoreland who died (probably) Dinwiddie CO VA abt 1782 (PER tax lists). Thomas there in 1782 (tax lists)and Edith is then listed there 1783 with the same property as his widow. Then Edith is charged for her son Reuben abt 1785. My "elder" Wm Wells (there are many as you can imagine) d. 1833 Giles CO TN. He was a Rev War soldier (Pension App filed). In his pension application he made several statements. He was b.Dec 1753 in Prince William CO VA. Apparently he marr to Sarah (Bath Parish records) in Brunswick CO VA Nov 1785. I have not pulled that original record yet (I am still knee deep in the Giles CO TN deeds) They were marr Brunswick County by Thomas Lundie, Minister. You probably know this part .... Bath Parish was formed in 1742 by a division of Bristol Parish in Prince George County. In 1752, Prince George County was divided to create Dinwiddie CO. My Westmorelands were 'of' Dinwiddie CO VA prior to removing to Davidson CO TN. Soon after they (all, at least a good portion of them) were found living in Giles CO TN. Giles CO formed from Davidson CO. There are many records in Giles (from day one) that tie the Westmoreland brothers and my Wm Wells together (=one big happy family). I have a file that I can send to you. I am working my through all of the Giles deed records; am currently through Deed Book 'N' all deeds of interest scanned and then compiled in a WORD file. This research is how I learned about your Tilmon = and a new puzzle. Thank you for your response. & looking forward to your response. Please contact me at andersondebra43@yahoo.com and I will direct you to my regular email address (from there). Debra Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. I too, found the close relationship between the Westmorelands and the Daniels but don't know the connection. Do you know where the Westmorelands came from? Tilman was b in VA, (I believe Brunswick) m in Warren Co NC and Davidson Co TN. The family moved to MS. I don't know what R. stands for. Maybe it is Reuben. Could Reuben have m Tilman's mother? Author: debraanderson15 Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.daniel/2198/mb.ashx Message Board Post: I am researching the Westmoreland families of Giles CO TN. Reuben Westmoreland marr to Elizabeth (most list Elizabeth as Abernathy). They were of SC removed to Davidson CO TN. Reuben died 1818 in Davidson; Elizabeth and several of her children removed to Giles CO TN. They had several children including Laban, Wm G., Jesse and Martha L as proven by many deed records in Giles CO TN. Elizabeth married 1836 (for a very short period) Charles Neal (my ancestor). This 2nd marriage ended in 1838. A Tilmon R Daniel (aka Tillman / Tillmon ) is very much a part of the 'Reuben Westmoreland group'; he appears in many of their deed records (time and time again) no relation specified. Was he a close friend or was he a relation of sorts? When I came upon this record (pasted below) I really began to think that he must be related. Wm G Westmoreland signing over his portion of his mother's dower estate (upon her death) to his brothers Laban and Jesse.... BUT also to Tilmon R Daniel! Why? This particular record indicates to me that Tilmon may have married a daughter of Reuben Westmoreland. If anyone on this list knows anything about this Tilmon R Daniel, please respond. I have many more records listing his name that I could forward. Just of interest -- who belongs to the Vern (Verlyne) Daniels, Cdr, USN, who spent 1,966 days at the Hanoi Hilton?? Just saw a list of said prisoners, and saw that my Congressman (Texas), whom I have known for years, was also there. ____________________________________________________________ Study online and boost your career with a Bachelor's Degree. http://thirdpartyoffers.juno.com/TGL2141/fc/BLSrjpTL9zZG6we5C57ANKhDKnUdDpsuReO3eND01rmOudRPqOqzrGWic84/

Natalie, I'm so sorry that I did not say biographical sketch. It's not a picture. It tells where he came from, who his parents were, lists his children, how he voted, etc. It is a lot of info on him and was written while he was still alive. If you want a copy I will type it for you. I don't think it will scan very well. My ggg-gf, James Key Daniel moved to MO to be with his oldest son so he and John were buried there. We live in GA. We went to Alaska in 1989 so stopped there and did a little research at the library in Independence. That is where we found this article. I was curious about who he was so I also copied a map showing the land he owned in Jackson. I can mail this to you if you want it. I have wondered if John and he knew each other before coming to MO and if they planned the move together. They were 3rd cousins, about the same ages, and people kept in touch pretty well then. I think 3rd cousins were probably more important to each other than now. I also wonder about George B. and Robert's son who went to Grayson.
