Can anyone help? I am looking for information on William Daniel, that married Delilia Sidwell. He seems to have come from Ky, but I am not sure if he ever moved to TN or not. His wife Delilia is buried in Clay Co., Tn. Some information I have is that he was born in 1814 and have may have been married 2-3 times, but there are alot of William Daniel's out there. The spelling of last name maybe Danial. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks Doris Daniels Swinson rexjr@shawneelink.net
Some of you may recall that for many years my 3rd great grandfather, Thomas, was erroneously listed as a son of old 1743 William Daniell, which has been disproved by both Ken Daniell, me and others. However any documentable info as to his father or which Daniel line has been continued to be elusive. I now have a copy of a page listing in numerical order, from 306 to 336, winning drawers in the 1807 Land Lottery (definitely written in 1800's handwriting, but very clearly written), No.327 being "Thomas Daniel (ORPHAN OF BERRY DANIEL), Robinson's District, Clarke Co." and in the far right hand column "May 1869". Apparently, though, old Thomas never lived on the land, which was down in Baldwin Co. It was never mentioned, a far as I can tell, in any of the documents and Notes Receivable concerned in the administration of Thomas' estate (he died intestate in 1852, but it took until 1860 to finally settle the estate (papers in Estate Files Newton Co., GA.). When I queried the State about the land, they said only that the Baldwin property was sold by the State in 1869. I supposed they considered the property abandoned. Please note that the name was NOT a "Greenberry" nor a "LittleBerry - just "Berry". Thomas and Martha Patsy Smith, b, 1785, NC, were married Dec. 1807 in Clarke Co., GA. They had one daughter, Leah, and three sons - Eli (b. 1809), WILLIAM BERRY, (b. 1813), and Seaborn John, (b. 1819), my direct. "Berrys" were often near my Daniel folk in censuses, some "Berrys" bought items in his estate sale. Very few plain "Berry Daniel" names show up in researching sources - one who "died before his father did" and is buried in Laurens, SC; another supposedly born 1786 - a twin to Thomas??, but no other info or birth location. If a light bulb comes on for any of you long-time Daniel researchers on this "Berry" situation, please give me a holler!! Thanks!! I am trying to locate any one related to the family of John H. Daniel born late 1700's to early 1800's in South Carolina. John was a wagon driver for the government. They moved Cherokee's to government settlements. He eloped with and indian girl and are reported to have gotten married in northern Ga. Her name is unknown at this time. Their children were Ambrose, Ed, Henry and James. James was known as Devil Jim. James was my great great grandmother dad. James married Mary Rice and their children were James R., John T., Charles, Absalom, and Mary Louanna. Mary Louanna married James Morton Crow and they settled in Maypearl, Texas. If anyone knows these Daniel's or related to please let me hear from you. Thanks Sandy
Does anyone have any information on Cynthia Ann Daniel b. 1810 in Tennessee according to the 1850 census of Mississippi County, MO? I have virtually nothing on her! I need parents and/or siblings. According to the marriage records of Marshall County, Tennessee, Cynthia Ann Daniel married James Swanner on March 5, 1838. Cynthia had a son, Marshall Green Swanner born April 10, 1834 (according to census record of Pemiscott County, MO he was born in North Carolina). I believe that the dates must be wrong in one of these records but do not know which record. I don't know if Cynthia and James had other children but it is possible. I know that by 1840 they were in Scott County, Wolf Island Twp., MO according to the census that year. If anyone has any idea who Cynthia's parents or siblings could be, please e-mail me at: acopehart@yahoo.com I will appreciate any help you can give. I keep seeing the website ancestrialbooks.com mentioned but I can't spend that kind of money on books until I have an ideal which branch of Daniel or Daniels family I am looking for. Research for this was done by a first cousin of my husband's. This cousin is now deceased. I have marriage date to Agatha as May 17, 1938, but have no children and no further information. It is possible that Agatha died in childbirth along with the infant. Gabriel filed for citizenship in 1856 and was granted same in 1858. This information is from Book 9, Page 491.
