Kevin's Daniel DNA page is located at: www.danieldna.50g.com I would like to hear more about your North Carolina & Georgia Daniel family line. Is it possible that you have a male Daniel who could participate in our Daniel DNA Project? And, most importantly, we have located the brother-in-law of Pamela Daniel who started this message board thread in 2001. He has agreed to take the DNA test. The process takes a while, but we should have results by the end of the year. In the mean time, the info at www.talesofold.net is to be viewed as a work in progress based on many years of research. Their earliest known "Proven" ancestor is still Theophilus Daniel who married Penelope Goodson. The search for the fabled William Daniel from Ireland goes on... In a phone conversation with my cousin Anne O'Brian whose Georgia DNA participant is a DNA match with me, I brought up my cousin Jerry Wayne's idea of William Daniel of Ireland. Anne's response was "Which William: There were so many?" Anne has a good point. Hopefully we will sort some of this out. Stay tuned... Charles Daniel, father of Smith Coffee, was son of Rev. Thomas Daniel and Sarah Burney of Greene County,GA. Thomas is believed to have had three brothers, Charles, who like Thomas was a minister. (Charles never left the Carolinas), Eustace and Edmund, both were in the Greene County area after having migrated from Edgecombe Couny, NC. The parents of Thomas, Charles, Eustace and Edmund is believed by many to be William Daniel and Elizabeth Coleman. I however, have them assigned to Edmund Daniel (d 1755, Granville County, NC) and Alice (LNU). Mike Daniel In a message dated 10/4/2009 6:35:11 A.M. I understand that while rootsweb message board postings are gatewayed through to the Daniel email list, those not on our email list will never see our replies to the list if we don't respond to the posting itself. I looked through this thread that started in 2001. Unfortunately the person who started it, Pamela Daniel, is no longer a valid email address. I've also looked through Kevin's DNA pages and can not find anyone listed from this family. I'm not into rootsweb family trees: We like family Bibles, census records, and DNA results. My biggest question is if there is anyone out there that claims this family and has either already taken the DNA test or has a willing male descendant who could take part in our DNA test. Our Hiram Daniel family of North Carolina/Tennessee has recently had two matches from folks who track their ancestry to Georgia. We have yet to figure out how they fit on our family tree, and our best family historian, Jerry W. Murphy, has suggested it might the the almost mythical William & Elizabeth. What we want to know is does anyone else claim these folks? We can arrange for DNA testing at no cost to the participant. I had posted on another thread concerning our William Daniel (my ggg-grandfather). Since this information is mostly (dates and names) from a Family Bible, here it is again for this thread below. Hello, Clay -- I appreciate your offer. However, I am not yet aware of any Daniel decendants in this century. My gg-grandfather, Alexander Ewing Harris Jr., married Amanda Eliza Daniel in Decatur Georgia after the war. They were living next to her sister Virginia and her husband, Augustus John Bell, on the 1870 Decatur county census, and then the two families and the father William Daniel went to Texas. We have found the family on the 1850 census in Decatur County. Since our Harrises were very connected to the CSA, it's likely that some of the boys were killed in the War. Eugean Alfred and Robertus Asbury are on the 1870 census, though, so they survived (the War, at least - there was a bad yellow fever epidemic in early 1870s Decatur County, am thinking that was part of why they went to Texas). I will also forward this to a cousin who may know more. We were hoping that these more unusual family names might be helpful!
