Payne, Glad you're doing well and feel energetic enough to start this new endeavor. I don't read many posts on Daniel-L or the gatewayed posts. I just delete the ones that say "Daniel family" or the ones that are the 50th post in a thread and totally unrelated to the original post. Sorry, but I think people are being lazy when they don't take the time to change the subject line. Putting the ancestor, state or country and time period will help all posters. Good luck with the project! ---- Payne Daniel <gpdfla@tampabay.rr.com> wrote: > Googlepages, "Sites", will not accept htm or html code for their web > hosting site. Googlepages, "Sites", will not accept htm or html code for their web hosting site. There are some good sounding sites out there but I was wondering if anyone has a good experience with any particular site? I would like to construct my new pages in Legacy Family Tree Format and forego the need for Pdf as the family report. There has been some scurrying behind the scenes about the various Marmaduke Daniels and I recently removed John (JB) Daniel from the family of Marmaduke and Sarah Daniel of Brunswick, Va.,/Chatham County, NC. I am writing a paper on the Marmadukes and will endeavor to separate them, if that be possible. Dr. Pritchett may be in error when he suggest that the Marmaduke who married half breed Nanny Still may be the same as the Marmaduke who married Sarah (Ledbetter?) I will try to sort that out. There is A Sarah Brown mixed up with a Marmaduke as well? They say silence is golden, so this List ought to be rich by now? TOC

I don't have the original of Josiah's will, I think I have just the printed one in the Middlesex Daniel book by Robt Manning. It may be available in Granville Co. Pam Milleer may know about this. I don't know who has the paper with Brown written over the B in George B's name. I wasn't aware that John owned land in other counties other than Jackson, but he was rather well off. James B. owned land in Caswell and Orange. He lived in Caswell and then moved to Orange but kept holdings in both counties. I have a list of transactions made by Jas. K in Caswell, but may have sent this to you. Did you mean our ancestor Jas K or George B's son. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. K. and Jack on several sites. I think a lot of it came from Family Tree CD - Brøderbund WFT Vol. 7, Ed. 1, Tree #3702, Date of Import: Apr 6, 1997, according to another researcher who has him listed as Earl K. The letter J in the census is strange but it can be compared with other names beginning with J and the similarity is obvious. And I thought I had bad penmanship. All existing info I have found indicate George and John arrived in 1836. This seems to be incorrect with the purchase dates in Jackson County. It would also change the estimated birth date of George as he could not purchase land until he was 21, or so they say. Additionally it appears that John was buying land in the adjacent counties of Cass, Bates and Vernon. Jackson, Cass and Lafayette counties join very close to Lone Jack and John was known to have been in all. Plus he lived in St Charles County, MO; near St Louis and his aunt was living in Lincoln Count; just north of St Charles. The purchases in Vernon County, Mo are possibly his too. I believe John also had holdings in Lafayette and Johnson counties bordering on Jackson county. They obviously were not land patents. It appears that John was still connected with St Charles County as a John Daniel purchased land there in 1835 and 1840. Could be another John, who knows. Is there any chance of getting a copy of Josiah's will or the "H92 George B. Daniel and wf" with the "rown" added above the B. I am having absolutely no luck finding information on Jas. K Daniel at this time. It could be that John and George were reconnoitering the Jackson County area from St Charles and did some of their land purchasing before moving the family there. Charles, Cary K and Blevins are not known to me but the fact that much of their lands border on John and George's parcels it makes one wonder about any family relationship. Might be interesting to see who they sold their land too. John must have been a wheeler-dealer when it came to land. Jim Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
