Jimmy, I have been out of the family history tracking for several years and am just starting to get involved again. I will try to go back to my sources for the info I have and if I find anything that may help I'll certainly forward it on to you. I'm sure your request for help could not confuse anyone any more than we are all confused now. The Daniel families all seemed to move around in groups of many families. There is a log cabin at the museum in Yates Center, KS that is known as the Daniel cabin. It was built by a Reuben Daniel, somewhere in the 1860 timeframe. My great great grandfather Reuben Daniel also built a log cabin, also along the banks of Big Sandy Creek (as was the other Reuben Daniel's). Much of my family says that the log cabin in Yates Center was that of my great great grandfather's but all the evidence indicates that it was in fact the other Reuben who built that cabin. The amazing thing is that everybody knows that all those Daniel families who arrived in Woodson County were related, but finding the proof of exactly how they were related is nearly impossible. I have visited the Big Sandy Cemetery and find all the different Daniel / Daniels buried there and know that they are all related, but for the life of me cannot determine the relationships. As you indicate, it is a very confusing line. Thanks for the information. Good morning, All. There is a record of marriage in Fairfax, VA for James DANIEL & Sarah WRIGHT, dated 31 Dec 1789. My searches have yielded no further information about this couple. The place and date lend circumstantial possibility that the James DANIEL might be James O'DANIEL, son of John O'DANIEL II, and grandson of John O'DANIEL and Martha MOXLEY?, who mentions his grandson James O'DANIEL in his will of 1798. Can anyone provide additional information concerning James and Sarah? Robert
Good morning, John. Yes, that is what I sent you in the time frame indicated. To my knowledge, it is as true today as it was then. Don't know why it might make you think that the William Scott O'DANIEL in Laurens, SC would have been the William Scott O'DENEALE, s/o James and Theodosia, because my message unlinked William Scott from the O'DANIEL family of Fairfax. Because of our numerous exchanges of information on the O'DANIELs of Fairfax, I was confident that you were aware of the above. As a result, I only addressed what I understood to be the possibility you seemed to put forth that William Scott who married Mary ABERCROMBIE in Laurens, SC was this same individual. In what I'd sent you back then was the statement "that on October 19, 1755 James O'DENEALE, not O'DANIEL, married Theodosia, whose last name actually turned out to be CONYERS also spelled CONNYERS and CONNORS, and was a daughter of Capt. John CONNORS or CONNYERS. The DENEALEs had a son, William Scott O'DENEALE." I have had William Scott assigned as the son of James and Theodosia Conyers O'DENEALE ever since that message. From my research into the DENEALEs, part of the proof that Theodosia married James O'DENEALE/DENEALE was found in Northern Neck Grant I:210 to James DENEAL of Fairfax County, (Virginia) 552 acres on 1 July 1772 reads in part "The Right Honourable Thomas Lord Fairfax Baron of Cameron in that Part of Great Britain called Scotland Proprietor of the Northern Neck of Virginia....Whereas James DENEAL of Fairfax County....& that the said David WAUGH conveyed the same to Capt Henry CONNER who by his last Will & Testament....to his Daughter Ann HOLLAND & the residue more or less to his Daughter Theodosia who marrying the said James DENEAL the Property of the said Residue is hereby vested in him...." I do not know what became of William Scott O'DENEALE other than these records: 1782 State Census for Va. Fairfax County, James Daneale - 5 whites, 20 blacks; William Daneale - 3 whites, 9 blacks; and The Last Will and Testament of James C. DENEALE reading in part, "In the name of God, I James C. DENEALE in the County of Fairfax, State of Virginia....to my son William, two hundred acres of land in the State of Kentucky in Wilson and Washington counties....I give to my daughter Theodosia DENEALE the following....I hereby set my hand this twentieth day of July 1805....(sd) James C. DENEALE Witnesses John TYLER John WRENN". Are we discussing the same thing yet? (smile) An aside to all this is the later marriage of James GUNNELL to Ann DENEALE, a d/o James and Theodosia Conyers O'DENEALE . James GUNNELL was s/o Henry and Catherine O'Daniel GUNNELL, making James also the nephew of my James O'DANIEL/DANIELL. Robert ----- Original Message ----- From: "John R. C. T. What I want to know is who was the father of John COLBERT. My bet is he was out of the COLBERT family of Hancock/Wilkes County, GA. The interesting part about the John G. COLBERT listed as the husband of Mary DANIELL is I have a John Geer COLBERT b. ABT 1775 who married Frances Nelson WINGFIELD, d/o Thomas WINGFIELD and Martha Elizabeth NELSON of Hanover County, VA and later, Wilkes County, GA. A lot of WINGFIELDS and COLBERTS in the Hancock and Wilkes County, GA area. Hannah CUNNINGHAM was the d/o James CUNNINGHAM and Ann THOMSON of Spotsylvania County, Virginia and later, Prince Edward County, VA. William was the son of James DANIEL and Jean KELSO. The THOMSONS, SANKEYS, KELSOS, CUNNINGHAMS were all close. The name, Hannah, may well be from the HANNAH family which was collateral with the CUNNINGHAMS. Here is what I have for the children of William DANIEL (1748-1816) and Hannah CUNNINGHAM (ABT 1761-ABT 1797) of Greene County, GA: Children: i. James DANIEL b: 1780 in Prince Edward Cty, Virginia married UNK but probably a SANKEY since their daughter was named Anne Sankey DANIEL but that is just a guess on my part. ii. Ann Thomson DANIEL b: ABT. 1781 married John Thomson SANKEY, s/o Richard SANKEY and Sarah THOMSON. iii. Jane DANIEL b: 28 FEB 1789 in Prince Edward Cty, Virginia married Alexander Brown LINTON. iv. Mary DANIEL b: 5 NOV 1789 Married John G. COLBERT v. Samuel C DANIEL b: DEC 1792, no info, died Morgan County, GA 1818 vi. William DANIEL , Sr b: 17 JAN 1797 in Prince Edward Cty, Virginia married Sarah Cunningham DANIEL, his first cousin. John R. Clarke Thomasville, GA ----- Original Message ----- From: "C. T. Good Evening, Over at least he past year, I have seen various links in deeds and naming patterns that seems to indicate there may be more than a casual relationship between the DANIELL family of Charleston and the DANIEL family of IOW, VA and Chowan County, NC. We know from deeds that Gov. Robert DANIELL (1746-1718) was all over some of these folks up in the Bath, Beaufort County, NC area in the 1710 time frame. We also know that Gov. Thomas POLLOCK was a successor to Robert DANIELL as governor of NC and many of the families of these early colonial governors were closely related. Notice the following from a 1719 deed in Chowan District, NC. I am sure the James WINWRIGHT was James WAINWRIGHT and he was probably related to Martha WAINWRIGHT who married Gov. Robert DANIELL as his 2nd wife. I think the WAINWRIGHTS were probably a part of the family of the same name who once lived in Bermuda. We also know the ASHLEYS were also from Charleston but notice the Robert ROGERS listed as a neighbor of this James WAINWRIGHT. Guess who he was? He was the father of Elizabeth ROGERS who married Simon DANIELL and they also spell it in a lot of early records as DANIELL and not DANIEL. Also notice the Thomas POLLOCK because the Will of Owen DANIELL, Simon's father, appoints him the guardian of Thomas DANIEL (1686-1749), his younger son who later married Elizabeth LANIER, d/o Robert LANIER and Sarah BARKER. I really want to seem some DNA out of the Gov. Bob line from Charleston to compare it against that from IOW County, VA. I still think there is a better than even chance this bunch in IOW and the DANIEL bunch from Barbados are related including the LANIERS and BARKERS, and that relationship may well extend to the Charleston DANIELL clan, too. I also know that Parris Island, SC was once owned by Gov. Robert DANIELL of Charleston and I assume it got its current name from the PARRIS family. The wife of Stephen SWAIN of Tyrrell County, NC was Patience PARRIS and their daughter, Mary SWAIN (ABT 1722-AFT 1780) married Robert DANIEL (1718-1786), son of Simon DANIEL and Elizabeth ROGERS of Martin County, NC. Nothing definite in any of this but there are just an awful lot of seemingly insignificant little things floating around these two families that may mean little, individually, but when looked at in total, they may mean a lot. It is just one thing I want those of you from this family to be on the look out for and let me know if you see anything which seems to link these two families. Thanks..... <<< NC Patent Book 8, pg. 219 James WINWRIGHT 1 March 1719 400 acres in Chowan precinct, joining John DRURY, Joseph BALLARD, Beech Swamp, Roland GUIN, Robert ROGERS, William ASHLEY, and Samuel MERIOT Witnesses: Charles EDEN, Thomas POLLOCK, Frederick JONES, Richard SANDERSON, John HECKLEFIELD . MIKE, Thank You for Your reply and interest in this line of the DANIEL Family. I have not gained any additional information from my original posting nor do I claim it to be accurate in any way. This linage have always been confusing to me and the only part of it that I can vouch for is James Henry DANIEL 1864-1932 who is my Great Grandfather. It seems that these DANIEL Families moved often and many used the same names again and again. I hope my post asking for help with this line does not cause more confusion for others. I feel that the information I have may be more than one family mixed together. Any help You can offer to straighten this out is appreciated. jIMMY
John et al, I keep seeing references to the sons of James DANIEL and Jean KELSO. But I don't see much discussion with details about the descendants of the sons and daughters of James DANIEL and Jean KELSO. Have I just missed this information??? I am especially interested in the family and descendants of William DANIEL, son of James DANIEL and Jean KELSO. Would appreciate anyone pointing me to such information. ---------------------------------------------------------- John R. Clarke wrote: >Rev. Here is some more interesting information on the Daniel / Rogers connection. Once again, this is info I received from Julie Brown about a year ago. She is from the Rogers side and seems to have lots of potential info on the Roger - Daniel intermarriages. There certainly seems to be lots of interesting information. ******************************************************************************************************************************* Mike, I can provide some of the information about the Daniels/Rogers family here and will send more later. Can you access Publisher 2000 for an attachment or should I send it snail mail? Martha (also known as "Patsy") was born in 1815 (possibly 1817) in Shelbyville, Illinois (d. unk) and married William Daniel on 6-29-1837 in Shelbyville. Martha's parents are listed as Thomas Rogers and Susannah "Sookie" Jennings. Thomas was born between 1790 and 1800 and died around 1840-1850. The specifics are hard to pin down since we're going only from census records. Some of the Rogers researchers say he was born in TN but I question that due to when TN became a state. I think it was more probably NC but I can't confirm that. Susannah was born in 1796 in NC. We have Thomas and Susannah in TN in 1815, Indiana in 1823, and Illinois in 1823 based on their children's births. Martha's siblings are: Andrew Jackson "Jack" Rogers, William Daniel Rogers (ironic isn't it?), Fannie B. Rogers, Millie Rogers, James F. Rogers, Josiah/Isiah Rogers, Thomas Rogers. We have most of the information on the siblings as well with the majority of information on Andrew Jackson Rogers as ! most of the researchers are of his line. As far as the Daniels/ Rogers intermarriages, here's just a start for you: (by the way, there is record that the Rogers and Daniels traveled in a five wagon train from Illinois.) *Andrew Jackson Rogers (Martha's brother) married (2nd time) Elizabeth Daniels *Elizabeth's father, Jonah, married a second time to a "Martha Rogers" (could this have been your Martha?) *Martha Rogers married William Daniel *Fannie B. Rogers, Martha's sister, married a "Jonas Daniels" as her third husband. *Millie Rogers, Martha's sister, married a "Cyrus/Josiah Daniels" *James F. Rogers, Martha's brother, married an "Aley Daniel" as his second wife. *George Rogers, Martha's nephew, married a "Julia Daniel" believed to be Elizabeth's Daniels' cousin. That's just a taste of the confusion. Let me know what information you need/want. Julie ******************************************************************************************************************************** Maybe if we all work on this, we can come up with something. Happy cousin hunting. Mike Lanning
Here is some information I received about a year ago from Julie Brown. It is basically directed to the Rogers line, but touches on the Daniel line on several marriages. You are welcome to look it over if you wish. ********************************************************************************************************** 1 Thomas Rogers was born between 1790 and 1800 (d. 1840-1850) in Tennessee/North Carolina. He resided in Tennessee (1815), Indiana (1823), and Illinois (1823). He married Susannah "Sookie" Jennings (b. 1796 in North Carolina, d. aft. 1865) and they had the following children: 2 Andrew Jackson Rogers 3 Martha "Patsy" Rogers 4 William Daniel Rogers 5 Fannie B. Rogers 6 Millie Rogers 7 James F. Rogers 8 Josiah/Isiah Rogers 9 Thomas Rogers 2 Andrew Jackson Rogers was born January 22, 1815 in Tennessee (or possibly Beardstown Illinois). His nickname was "Jack". He was a blacksmith, a farmer, and a preacher (possibly associated with the Disciples of Christ or the Christian Church). He served in the Kansas Calvary and reenlisted in Arkansas for a second tour. Andrew was first in Tennessee, then Shelby County Illinois (1820-1830), then Laclede County, Mo. (1853-1859) and then to Woodson County, KS (abt. 1873). In Woodson County, they joined other DANIELS families who had migrated from Decatur (Macon Co.) Illinois in a five wagon Train migration in 1856. He died in 1896 in Viola, Missouri. He married Nancy Sherrill (b. abt. 1819 in Illinois, d. 1848-1850 probably in Schuyler Co., Ill.) on September 5, 1833 in Shelby County, Illinois. Her parents were Alexander Sherrill (Alexander's lineage can be traced back to the 1600's) and Elizabeth "Betsey" Ridings Payne of Shelby County, Illinois. Nancy apparently died in Ill! inois prior to Andrew going to Missouri and Kansas (she is in the 1840 census of Schuyler Co., Illinois). Andrew and Nancy had the following children: 10 Francis Marion Rogers 11 Martha Jane Rogers 12 James M. Rogers 13 George W. Rogers 14 William A. Rogers 15 Mary Rogers 16 Nancy Elandor Rogers 17 Louisa Rogers Andrew married Elizabeth Daniel (b. 04-17-1831 Shelby Co., IL d. 02-12-1906 in Belmont, Pottowatomie County, OK) on August 6, 1850 in Shelby County, Illinois. Her parents were Jonah (or Jonas) Daniel (b. 1804 NC) and Mary "Polly" Rice (b. 1808). (Note: After Mary "Polly" Rice died, Jonah married a sister to Andrew Jackson Rogers -that would have been Martha?- which made Andrew's father-in-law also his brother-in-law.) Andrew and Elizabeth had several more children: 18 Jonas Asbery Rogers 19 Thomas W. Rogers 20 John B.F. Rogers 21 Malinda Ann Rogers 22 Amelia M. "Millie" Rogers 23 Frances Catherine Rogers 24 Eliza Josephine Rogers 25 Hannah Isabell Rogers 26 Sarah Loretta Rogers 27 Joseph S. Rogers 3 Martha "Patsy" Rogers was born in 1815 in Shelbyville, Illinois (could possibly be 1817 in TN-this fits better with Ray's info.) (d. unk). She married William Daniel (b. 1808 in TN, d. 1870) on 6-29-1837 in Shelby County, Illinois. Martha and William had the following children: 28 Asbury Daniel 29 Ellen Daniel 30 Isiah Daniel 31 Jackson "Jack" Daniel 32 James Daniel 33 Jane Daniel 34 Reuben Daniel 4 William Daniel Rogers (b. 1822 in TN; d. unk) and married Nancy Jane McNear (b. abt. 1825 in KY or Ill., d. unk) on March 6, 1845 in Shelby County, TN. William and Nancy lived in Woodson County (next door to Andrew Rogers) in 1870. William and Nancy had the following children: 35 Thomas A. Rogers 36 Mary/Susannah Rogers 37 Andrew J. Rogers 38 Martha Rogers 39 Pamphilia Rogers 40 Isiah Rogers 41 Malessa G. Rogers 5 Fannie B. Rogers (b. 1823 d. unk in Missouri) married several individuals of which there is limited information. Her first husband was Washington Fanning (b. unk, d. unk) and she married him on 7-15-1840 in Shelby Co., Illinois. Fannie and Washington had the following children: 42 Milla Fanning 43 Zachary Fanning Fannie's second husband was Lewis Phillips (b. unk, d. unk) of whom she married on 11-12-1850 in Shelby Co., Illinois, and her third husband was Jonas Daniels. 6 Millie Rogers (b.1825/1827, d. unk in Illinois ) married Cyrus (or Josiah) Daniels (b. unk, d. unk). Millie and Cyrus/Josiah had the following son: 44 Male Daniels She reportedly married again but there is no information on the second husband. 7 James F. Rogers was born in 1826 in Tennessee (d. unk) and married Ann E. Banning (b. 1827, d. unk) on March 16, 1848 in Shelby Co., Illinois. Ann's parents were Jeremiah Banning and Elizabeth Ann Brooks. James raised his family in Kansas and he had the following children with Ann: 45 Arthur Rogers James may have married a second time (reports show his father, A.J. Rogers preformed the ceremony)to Aley Daniell in MO on 3-22-1857 (Aley was Julia Daniel Roger's sister). 8 Josiah/Isaiah Rogers was born in 1828 in Shelby County, Illinois (d. unk) and married Polly Ann Johnson (b. 1835, d. unk) on May 20, 1850. He is also listed in some information as Isaiah. Josiah and Polly Ann had the following children: 46 Andrew J. Rogers 47 Margaret Rogers 48 William L. Rogers 49 Martha A. Rogers 9 Thomas Rogers was born in 1835 in Illinois (d. unk). 10 Francis "Frank" Marion Rogers was born 06-22- 1836 in Illinois and married Mary Ann Wilson (b. 1842 in Mississippi, d. unk, her parents were Josiah Wilson and Lucinda Hargis) in 1866 in the Claiborn Parish in N. Louisiana. Francis fought for the Confederacy in the 8th Missouri Infantry. Francis and Mary Ann moved to and lived in Montgomery Co., AR, from 1866 until they returned to Claiborn in 1879. They are buried at Hebron Cemetery in Summerville, Claiborn Parish, LA. They had the following children: 50 Lucinda Ammer Rogers 51 Nancy Elizabeth Rogers 52 William Josephus Rogers 53 Louiza Jane "Dooley" Rogers 54 Mary Kathryn "Mollie" Rogers 55 Louella Frances Rogers 56 Lilla Isabel Rogers 11 Martha Jane Rogers (b. 1836 (twin to Francis Marion Rogers?) d. aft. 1880) married Henry Thomas (b. unk, d. unk) who was a resident of the Chickasaw Nation of the Indian Territory. Martha and Henry had the following children: 57 Jackson Thomas 58 William A. Thomas 12 James M. Rogers (b. 1837, d. 1861) fought in the 1st Kansas Volunteer Infantry (Union) as a sergeant and was killed on August 10, 1861 at Wilson Creek (12 miles south of Springfield, Missouri.) The battle was called "Bloody Hill" because of the number of lives lost. James joined the Infantry with his brother, George, in May of 1861 at Fort Leavenworth, Kansas. 13 George W. Rogers was born on 10-13-1839 in Shelby County, Illinois (d. 3-31-1922 in Belmont-Toronto, KS-buried in Big Sandy Cemetery, Woodson County). He was a farmer and a minister in KS in 1883 (he married several couples in Woodson County just as his father did). He married Julia Ann Daniels (b. 03-04-1844 in Illinois, d. 06-02-1916, Woodson County, KS- buried in Big Sandy Cemetery, Woodson County, KS) on May 31, 1866 in Wilson County, KS (familysearch.org lists her as Juliann Dannels). Julia was a housewife. Her parents were Reuben Daniels (b. Shelby Co., Illinois) and Mary Anna McGuire (b. Tennessee) of Shelby County, Illinois. George fought in the 5th Kansas Calvary (Union) with his younger brother, William A. and faced his brother, Francis, at least once in battle at Jenkins Ferry, Arkansas. George died of "Endo-Earditis & Gastnitis (?-it's hard to read the death certificate) in his daughter, Maggie's house. Julia Ann and George W. had the following children: 59 Charles Rogers 60 Noah Rogers 61 Magdaline "Maggie" Rogers 62 Warren Rogers 63 Millard Rogers 14 William A. Nancy later married Mr. Penturff (b. unk, d. unk). 17 Louisa Rogers (b. 1848?, d. unk) was also known as "Lude" (possibly pronounced "Ludie") and married James O. "Jim" Thomas (b. 1837 TN, d. unk). They had the following child: 70 Elizabeth "Lisa" Thomas 71 Joseph Thomas 72 Peter Thomas ********************************************************************************************************** Happy cousin hunting, Mike Lanning
Jimmie, I was going through some archives and found your posting (see below) from September 2002. From the 1860 Laclede Co., MO census, I have highly suspected that Isaiah was the father of William Daniel who married Martha Rogers. Were you able to gain any additional information on Isaiah from your posting? Do you have any additional information to prove that Isaiah is in fact the father of William? The fact that he was living with William at the time of this census leads me to believe that this is the case, but certainly does not prove it. I would love to come across some additional substantiation of this fact. I would love to come across some additional substantiation of this fact. On 11/16/1809 Master's HANKINS married Amelia DANIEL in Brunswick County, NC. Amelia has to be the sister of Rebecca and Sarah DANIELL, d/o Stephen B. DANIEL and Anne G. HOWE, since Master's two brothers, Samuel W. and Dennis HANKINS married her sisters, Rebecca and Sarah. She could have been the d/o of Stephen's brother, Robert and Sarah Amelia LEWIS, I do not know. What I would be money on is -- she is out of this DANIELL bunch.... Masters, Dennis and Samuel HANKINS were the children of Dennis HANKINS, Sr. and Elizabeth POTTER and grandsons of Dennis HANKINS I and Martha MASTERS. Elizabeth POTTER was the d/o Miles POTTER and Elizabeth of Brunswick County, NC and g/d of Robert POTTER and Mary W. of New Hanover County, NC. Also note that in the 1763 will of John DANIELL, it left provisions for the care and education of a Robert POTTER, son of Miles POTTER as I remember << 1763 WILL OF JOHN DANIELL OF Brunswick County, NC. Robert, According to what I have, this William Scott O'DANIEL was the son of James O'DENEALE the Theodosia CONYERS of up in Fairfax County, VA, a family that was often confused with your O'DANIEL family of the same area. Looking for any information on the families of John Daniel b c 1769 and Nancy ????? b c 1775 that were listed on the 1820 Census for Warren County Tn.. The Census indicated they had six children in their household with 3 male and 3 female. In the 1830 Warren Census, in addition to John Daniel and Nancy ?????? listed with 3 children (1 male and 2 females), an Edmond Daniel was listed with his children. I am looking for information on these two Daniel families including children names and ages where possible as well as any other Daniel families in Warren County at this time.

You're right, John, about some of those webpages. I can hardly read some of them--especially the ones with the fancy backgrounds. Guess you can tell I'm over 10 years. ha Wanda
Happy New Year, Kevin brought up a good topic. All Rootsweb messages are sent to all mailing lists as 7 bit ASCII text, which means no fonts, colors (other than B&W) or formatting other than that provided by the standard 7 bit ASCII character set. The reason their messages are encoded as 7 bit ASCII is to stop the possibility of viruses being included in messages to any mailing list. To do this, they have converters which strip the 8th bit from all messages which removes all fonts, colors, formatting, etc. from the message. Rootsweb also does not pass on attachments to any mailing list for the same reason, so there is no use in attaching attachments to messages to Rootsweb mail handlers because they will strip them from the message before it goes out to the list. For this reason, you should always send messages to Rootsweb mailing lists as "Plain Text," a option in either MS Outlook or Outlook Express. In Outlook or OE, click on "Format" and choose "Plain Text" as the source of your message. I am sure you have all seen all of that gobbledygook at the beginning of some messages sent to various lists by the Rootsweb mail handlers. This gobbledygook is because the sender did not encode the message as "Plain Text" and, instead, sent it out as some type of HTML formatted message. Then, the 8 bit to 7 bit message converter at Rootsweb did not know how to encode this message to 7 bit and just converted the message's HTML code as best it could, which left a lot of un-needed stuff at the beginning of the message. This "un-needed" junk camouflages the contents of the sender's message and many subscribers just delete the message without bothering to scroll down a half-page to see what the sender really said in the message. You can also go into your Address Book (if you are running Windows) and put a check in the check box telling Outlook of Outlook Express to send all messages to those addresses as "Plain Text." I suggest that you do this for each mailing list you are subscribed to and then you will not have to remember to encode those as plain text before you send them. One other topic -- fonts, colors, etc. used on genealogical websites. I am forever amazed at the creativity of some genealogical website developers. The problem is - no one over the age of 10 can read those fancy fonts, weird color combinations. I know that black on white is not as fancy as some "Lord of the Rings" color combinations but they are a lot easier on one's eyes. I am also sure that standard Courier, Times Roman or Bookman fonts are also not as fancy as a "snow drift" or script font but they are also a whole lot easier to read. I ask these people to remember what they really want to get out of their genealogical websites when they design the themes used on them. If they want others to be able to read and benefit from their research, then make things easy to read which means use one of the standard easily read fonts and contrasting color combinations for their websites. Also, the background must always be very dark and the text very light, which is why "black on white" or "yellow on dark blue" are always the best choices. "Black on green" or "red on purple" just does not hack it, no matter what some interior designer told your spouse. John R. Clarke Thomasville, GA ----- Original Message -----
