Who are these folks, if anyone knows? Since Capt. Isham LANE is on this list, as well as William DAWSON and William WILSON, I am pretty sure the father of my Robert C. Her name is Cynthia Ann Daniel b. 1810 and according to the 1850 Mississippi County, MO census, in TN. I am not convinced that she was born in TN ...I believe it could have been NC. Does the name Cythia Ann appear in either Josiah's or Aaron's branch? Do Josiah and Aaron have other siblings? Cynthia Ann married James Swanner 5 Mar 1838 in Marshall County, TN and they moved to Scott County ( now Mississippi Co.) MO and are on the 1840 census. After James Swanner died in 1842, Cynthia Ann married William Bartlett in 1844 in Scott County, MO. I can not find her on the 1860 census. I have search for marriage records and can find none. She is mentioned in William Bartlett's will in 1852 so, I believe that she died between 1852 and 1860. I would appreciate any information you can offer. Thanks

Mike, Speaking of Hillsborough, NC. Did you read Jimmy Carter's book, "The Hornet's Nest?" it was centered up around Hillsborough, NC until the folks there bailed out to GA, near Augusta, because they were tired of getting shafted by Gov. Tyron and his Tory buddies. John R. Clarke 229-228-1961 2417 N. John R. Clarke writes: Mike, So that is the LT. James DANIEL who we hear about from that area of NC, married to an Elizabeth WEST. John, Yes, I have seen those terms used to describe him and believe it originated with either Mr. Ray or Mr. Heineman (I can't recall which) but I don't believe he was a LT nor was he a son of James Daniel and Elizabeth Woodson. Lt. James Daniel was commissioned 28 Nov 1776 in the Ninth NC Regiment of the NC Line in Hillsborough, NC. That same day and place commissioned as ensigns were William Little, son-in-law of Woodson Daniel, Micajah Ferrall, a neighbor of Woodson and James Daniel and marriage bondsman of John Daniel and Robert Moore who eventually married James Daniel, son of Woodson, and Rebecca Travis in Rowan Co. This suggests to me that Lt James was either Woodson's son or his contemporary (who I think may be his brother). Mike
You are absolutely right. It has gotten so bad, I delete without reading. Note the following will Audrey, Thank you very much for you reply. I believe you are correct with the Wests. Israel West, brother of Elizabeth, spouse of James Daniel mentions in his 1787 Halifax will "my 50 acres in Isle of Wight, Va." However, James Daniel seems to be most of his life among Brunswick and Dinwiddie folks. There is also a school of thought that he may be related to the Edmund Daniel folks. A lot is still pending on James. Mike
