Hi, I am interested in finding out if any direct line of Daniel males descending from Peter Daniel b 1811 Tn and Mary Cantrell Bethel b 1816 have had a DNA Test done? Also, if you are from this line, and willing to have a DNA Test, would you please let me know direct. I am mainly looking at a 12 marker test at this time which is the lowest price; as I have the results of a cousin Daniel and am trying to double check the results. Thank you and take care. Anne, I think this was James Kelso Daniel, son of John Daniel & Sarah Cunningham. James died in Greene Co., GA in 1845. Mike
In case anyone has been trying to reach me and I have not replied, it is probably because my ISP's spam blocker is behaving very erraticaly. Some emails from the Daniel list have gotten through and some have not. I find that the same is email from individuals. I am sure that I have missed many emails in the past few months, before I became aware of this. Unfortunately the spam blocker is not very configurable, but it is filtering out dozens of legitimate spam messages every day, in addition to an occasional valid message, so I do not plan to disable it. Regards, Kevin
Who on the List can claim a James K. DANIEL of Greene Co., GA., who won Lot #21 in Wilkinson Co. in the 1805 GA. Lottery? Any info on him? Thanks. Anne
Hey folks, especially Charlie Rathbun, On 10 April Charlie and I did a quick posting exchange on his Margaret Daniel marrying John H. Hewey where I did some theorizing about it being in Mecklenburg VA and the name being messed up in the abstract books as Hewes and the consent of A. R. Daniel possibly being Avy R. Daniel, wife of Martin of Mecklenburg. Charlie, I left town before I got to answering your other emails, bad me, but I was coming to Salt Lake City so now some atonement of sorts: I just did a quick check of the Mecklenburg bonds, consents and ministers' returns. The bond is clearly John H. Hewey, with Thomas (x) Daniel as surety. The consent says: Mr. Richard Baptis You will isure lisens to John H. Hewey to wed to Miss Margarett Daniell of this county and By the consent of her Parents. [signed] Avy R. Danell witness John M. Leneave, Thomas Daniel As far as the abstract books calling it A. R. Daniel and "father", I can only propose they didn't know/recognize the name Avy and just made an assumption it was the father. Charlie, I took copies, send me your address offlist and I'll mail them when I get home. Later, Pam in CA, er SLC for now __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? There are several scenarios that could result in non-surname matches. The most common is an MRCA that lived before the use of surnames became common. I have many 12 and 25 marker matches with other surnames. Only by upgrading to the 37 marker test would tell if the match was so close that some event that disrupted the surname descent had occurred. Such events would be infidelity, adoption, illegitimacy, or a deliberate surname change. Matches with other surnames are common. You undoubtedly share a common ancestor with the Glen family before the use of surnames became common. If you both upgraded to the 37 or 56 marker test, then the time to your MRCA would widen to hundreds, maybe even thousands of years. At Raleigh Archives I found a pedigree chart submitted 3 Mar 1993 by Darlene Parker Smith of Fayetteville, NC 28314. Is she part of this list or has anyone been in touch with her? I do have an address and phone number for 1993 that I can use to try to contact her. She gives her Daniel line as follows: Ann "Annie" Eliza Daniel b 1 Dec 1828 at Tranquility, Granville Co., NC, daughter of Nathaniel Chesley Daniel b 29 Jul 1797 m Ann Harriett Bullock 1828. He d 9 May 1853. He was the son of James Daniel b 1762 who married Anne Venable about 1795. He was the son of Chesley Daniel b 1731; died 1814; married Judith Woodson Christian. He was the son of James Daniel and Jane Hicks. I'm guessing that Pam Miller would be the one most likely to be in contact with Darlene? Georgia in Nevada
Hi, Clay, I did a google search and found the following. Do you already have contact with Jo Blackburn? Good luck in your search. (Georgia in Nevada). DANIEL I am looking for information on the Hiram Daniel family. He died inRhea County in 1821. Son Plummer Daniel born 1797 possibly marriedhis first wife between 1822-23. Plummer moved to Bedford County in1836. Any information on Hiram and where he is buried or PlummerDaniel's family would be greatly appreciated. It is frustrating to watch this very good exchange as I feel my Daniel family must fit in here somewhere, but we have not figured out how, and despite four representatives from our line in the DNA project, we still stand out as a separate Daniel family from others tested. Our earliest known ancestor is Hiram Daniel born abt. 1766-1774. His son and my gg-gf Robert C. Daniel was born 1791, supposedly in NC, and Robert's brother Plummer Daniel b. 1797, also lists North Carolina as his birthplace. The first we spot Hiram Daniel is a 1799 land grant in Rutherford Co NC, and in the 1800 Rutherford Co census. By 1810, Hiram is in Buncombe Co NC, living next to his newly married son Robert. Our Robert C. Daniel b. 1791 moves to Bedford Co TN by 1813 with a number of members of his wife's Kimsey family, while Hiram and others of this line move to Rhea Co Tenn, where Hiram dies in 1821. Thereafter Plummer Daniel joins Robert C. in Bedford Co TN before his line moves on to Wayne Co Tenn. My own particular line moved to Mississippi in 1851, and both my grandfather and father were born near Port Gibson, and always thought of themselves as Southerner's. Now I'm beginning to wonder... Recently I had the task of driving a family vehicle from the Virginia suburbs of Washington DC back here to Texas, and naturally I took the Shenandoah Interstate and when I got to the end of it, I headed west to Knoxville rather than east to Asheville (Buncombe Co NC). The thing about the beautiful Shenandoah is that it really is an extension of the Cumberland valley that leads out of western Pennsylvania. I'm beginning to wonder if this may have been the migration route for my particular Daniel family, much like it seems to have been for my Kimsey ancestors. But this is only speculation, and I'm looking for some solid leads, among them DNA evidence. Anyway, thanks for everyone's input on their lines, and if you find a home for our old Hiram, let me know. My earlier post read: David's sister Elizabeth went to Stewart Cty also with her husband Luke Hardison. Hardison Daniel was likely a product of this marriage. The last sentence should read "The name Hardison Daniel was likely a product of this marriage". Mike
I also believe that the H. Daniel is Harrison Daniel, but could be wrong? Harry Meadows <[email protected]> wrote: My 5g grandmother was Lydia Minerva Daniel b. 1778 NC: dau of James D. Daniel b.
