I had done a search for "Amos" on the Daniel List Archives and didn't find anything. I'll have to re-do that search. Just for clarity, I'm researching this Daniel line to see if Alexander and James were the sons of Amos who was listed in the 1820 Washington Co., GA census. The next question is "Was this Amos the same Amos in Putnam Co., GA, who was the son of Nathan." Cenus age comparison indicates that it is very possible that this is Amos the son of Nathan. It appears that if this is Amos of Putnam Co. then it was probably his brother Stephen who was also in Washington Co. during the 1820's per the census and some court records regarding the sale of some mills. I also checked the Daniel DNA website to see if there has been any contributors for the "Joseph Daniel/Sarah Barnes" line in the results & don't seem to find any. 3. Good Morning, After 31x years of living in Thomasville, we are moving. We close on our new house on Monday and the first load heads to SC this morning. I hart to leave GA after 47 years but they are getting a little to pricy for my blood - for an example, our home taxes have tripled in the past 5 years. Gail also want to be a little closer to our grandchildren - now just 15 minutes away from us. Batesville is a quiet small town - What Thomasville was when we moved here 31 years ago but still located in one of the fastest growing counties in SC, Lexington. I will not know my new email address or phone number until Monday, after we close on our new home in Batesburg. John R. Clarke 410 Highland Avenue Batesburg, SC 29006-1311

    3. Hi, Audrey. Correct. The line of Jeremiah HATCHER, 1724-1827, who Mary DANIEL of Edgefield Co., SC, goes back to Benjamin HATCHER, b. 1644, and Elizabeth GREENHAUGH of Henrico Co., VA through their son Jeremiah HATCHER, d. Dec 1766 in Lunenberg Co. VA, and Margart GOODE, his grandparents. Robert HATCHER, 1732 Henrico Co.-1803? GA, and Ann SANDERS, 1730?-Aft 1776, were his parents. There are only two marriages to MORGAN men in my files, one in the 1960s, and Henry S. in the original post. Very little info on either. 1. 1820 Washington Co., GA Census - Thomas DANIEL
    2. Paul and Marce
    3. What is known of the Thomas DANIEL that appears in the 1820 Washington Co. Census? He appears next to Francis DANIEL. Thomas fits as a canidate father of my James Wesley DANIEL. James' 2nd oldest son was Francis DANIEL (his first was James, Jr.). His youngest was George Thomas DANIEL. James' obit states that he was born in Washington Co., 1827. Family information reports he had a half-brother (Seaborn JONES), born 1814. There is one male child in the household of Thomas DANIEL, and the age fits for Seaborn. Paul Daniel

    1. Re: [DANIEL-L] Amos Daniel in Washington Co., GA - b. btwn 1770 and 1780
    2. Mike Thanks for the reply. I'm still using alot of possible's and maybe's & would like to seek out more documentation. - Ruth ----- Original Message ----- From: <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Thursday, June 01, 2006 5:13 AM Subject: Re: [DANIEL-L] Amos Daniel in Washington Co., GA - b. btwn 1770 and 1780 > Ruth, > > A contributor to this list sometime back indicated that Nathan's (son of Joseph and Sarah (Barnes)) wife Sarah and a son Amos were administrators of his estate according to his 1809 Putnam Co. 2. Ruth, A contributor to this list sometime back indicated that Nathan's (son of Joseph and Sarah (Barnes)) wife Sarah and a son Amos were administrators of his estate according to his 1809 Putnam Co. GA will. There was also mention of Nathan's son Stephen who signed some of Nathan's estate papers but none of Alexander. Amos is listed in the 1820 Washington Co., GA census as being 45+. At the very least he would have to be b. in 1775. Living with Amos is two white males 16-26, which would have made them b. between 1794 and 1804 - which corresponds nicely with my 2 brothers. Amos is not listed in the 1830 Washington Co. GA census as Head of House. Alexander Daniel is listed - with a white male 50-60. That would make this unknown man b. between 1770 and 1780 - again corresponding to the range of Amos Daniel's age in the 1820 census. James Daniel settled in Monroe Co., AL about 1824 and married Lydia Davis (dau. of John Davis and Elizabeth Murphy). Alexander also migrated to Monroe Co., AL about 1835 and married there in 1836 - probably because of the death of the white male listed in the census. On this small thread, I'd like to believe that Amos was that man listed liviing with Alexander Daniel in the 1830 census. Large stretch - Does anyone see a connection between this Amos Daniel and Nathan Daniel, son of Joseph Daniel and Sarah Barnes? 1. Amos Daniel in Washington Co., GA - b. btwn 1770 and 1780
    2. I have two brothers, James Daniel, b. 1797 in GA & Alexander Daniel, b. 1799 in GA and believe there might be a connection to Amos Daniel from what I can see in the census. . Amos is listed in the 1820 Washington Co., GA census as being 45+. At the very least he would have to be b. in 1775. 3. Well, Mike, I have checked on some further sources on William and James, and find that most sources say that the two brothers did not move to GA until about 1791, 14 years later than the birth date of my 1786 Thomas. The major sources, "Back To Old Virginia with Dillard, Daniel and Kin" and of course, "The Cunnnghams of Cub Creek" and old Worth Ray. I don't know why my 1786 Thomas would have any reason to have mis-stated his birth location in GA as he always did, so I guess I was on the wrong track here. The Ellener Caldwell, who with her husband, Thomas, witnessed the Elder James Donnel/Daniel's will in 1763, I believe to be a (maiden name) Vernon. Several Vernon women around that time and before, married Tinsley women (and vice versa) one of them, Sarah Tinsley, an aunt of my Sarah Tinsley (b. 1756,VA, wife of my John Faulkner,b.VA1750, my fourth great in my direct Faulkner line) has been confused by some Vernon researchers with my 1756 Sarah, and they got mad when I tried to correct them and have since refused to acknowledge my queries. Oh, well - Post'Em Note time. Mike, I apologize for troubling you with all those questions. I guess I'm just plain frustrated and I do appreciate your kind help and time.
