Charlie, My Robert C. DANIEL (abt 1765-aft 1830) fits into this overall family, too. How he got to Dobbs County, NC by 1790 is not known to me, either but there has to be some kind of family connection between these Granville and Dobbs County, NC DANIEL families. My thoughts are not suppositions, either, because they are backed up by DNA 25 marker matches to descendants of this Granville bunch. If you see any mention of my Robert would you let me know. Rosalyn, Do you know the ancestry of this Josiah??? Is it possible that Josiah and my Martin Daniel Sr. born circa 1750 were brothers....or maybe even 1st cousins?? I've not looked into this family, but have found many of my Martin Sr's childrens and grandchildrens names similar to alot of the Daniel Families names such as the Chesley Daniel Family and the William Powell Daniell Family. There surely has to be a connection there somewhere. Thanks.... Charlie

Nursery, TX was a small farming community about 8 miles west of downtown Dallas, TX, in the late 1800's, named for it's numerous plant and tree nurseries. After 1948, it received it's mail from Grand Prairie, TX - Nursery no longer exists, that land now being within the boundaries of Irving, TX. Dallas County would be your area of research for deeds, censuses, etc. Assuming a birth date of from ca. 1830 to 1840 or so for your William Thomas Daniel, he at best could be an as yet unknown cousin or nephew of the ancestor of this Daniel (no "s") line - Thomas Daniel, b. 1786, GA, probably in the Oglethorpe Co. (or surrounding counties) area. Two of Thomas' sons (Eli and William Berry) moved to Randolph Co., AL ca 1840-1850 (where there were/are other unrelated Daniel families), where they multiplied, and some of their descendents came to northwest TX, near the historical Palo Pinto Canyon area as farmers and ranchers. His third son, Seaborn John Daniel, lived in generally Newton Co., GA., died in AL,. buried in GA. Six sons, four daughters, one son, George Mayfield Daniel (my great grandfather, my Mother's grandfather) came to southeast TX (Montgomery/Liberty Cos.) in ca. 1868. The Sam Houston connection is not blood line, but collateral, as grandson, Price, married Jean Houston Baldwin, a second or third (don't remember right now) granddaughter of old Sam's third marriage to a Lea girl from MS (or LA?). Several of George Mayfield's brothers (Thomas, Joseph??) also came to TX after the Civil War, but I don't have them fully documented yet. As far as I can determine, Stovall is not a name collateral to this line. Anne Wolff O'Brien Richardson, TX [email protected]
Josiah and Elizabeth Key Daniel of Granville County, NC, had a son named Martin b. May 12, 1777. I have his death date in 1828 from "Josiah's Book." The names on your list are similar to Josiah's family. I have not been able to find a listing of a family for Josiah's Martin. I do have that he married Elizabeth Briggs 22 Dec. 1801. Thanks for the information. Rosalyn > > From: [email protected] > Date: 2006/06/06 Tue PM 11:39:57 EDT > To: [email protected] > Subject: Re: [DANIEL-L] Beverly Daniel > > Alrighty....here goes. Alrighty....here goes. Here is all I know of my Daniel line. I have not done any personal research on this family other than what I've been able to find online. My two main sources have been a great help to me on this line, and it is from their Ancestry postings that I glean most of my information. There is a Bevely Daniel in Pike County GA census of 1830. He is on same page with Lewis Daniel. On another page are Thomas B., Egbert, and Fedrick. Those are the spellings as they were transcribed. These Pike Co GA Daniels interest me because my Alexander P. Daniel married Amanda McComb who was in Pike Co GA with her parents at the time of the 1827 Land Lottery. Alexander and Amanda McComb Daniel raised their family in Heard Co GA, but I have not been able to make a positive connection between Alexander and any other Daniels. I believe there was a Martin Daniel in Mecklenburg about 1800 who was born in Granville about 1777 to John Daniel and Celia Smith. Martin was orphaned at before May 1789 and Celia's next husband, Robert Hester became Martin's guardian. I recall that Martin was said to have received some of his education in Mecklenburg and supposedly relocated to Meck. around 1800. Roselyn, I've just started working on my Daniel line. I descend from Martin Daniel Jr. who married Avarilla Yancey in 1817 in Mecklenburg Co., VA. According to sources on Ancestry, one of their children was a Beverly Daniel. I have not been able to account for this Beverly Daniel in any census records. I had come across your Beverly Daniel in Granville Co., NC in the 1860 Census, but the record states that he was born in North Carolina. Also...the census record states that he was born in 1818. This would all work out nicely if....the census record is in error and he was actually born in Virginia, or my Martin Daniel lived in Granville Co., NC for a time which is possible. Another piece to this puzzle is that your Beverly Daniel did have a son named Martin Daniel. So....the possibility is sure there that your Beverly Daniel was a son of my Martin Daniel Jr. and Avarilla Yancey. It may just take some more digging to nail this one down....or disprove it. Good luck in your search. Sincerely, Charlie Rathbun 276 Winchester Ridge N Jasper, GA 30143
