I had done a search for "Amos" on the Daniel List Archives and didn't find anything. I'll have to re-do that search. Just for clarity, I'm researching this Daniel line to see if Alexander and James were the sons of Amos who was listed in the 1820 Washington Co., GA census. The next question is "Was this Amos the same Amos in Putnam Co., GA, who was the son of Nathan." Cenus age comparison indicates that it is very possible that this is Amos the son of Nathan. It appears that if this is Amos of Putnam Co. then it was probably his brother Stephen who was also in Washington Co. during the 1820's per the census and some court records regarding the sale of some mills. I also checked the Daniel DNA website to see if there has been any contributors for the "Joseph Daniel/Sarah Barnes" line in the results & don't seem to find any. I'm still using alot of possible's and maybe's & would like to seek out more documentation. - Ruth ----- Original Message ----- From: <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Thursday, June 01, 2006 5:13 AM Subject: Re: [DANIEL-L] Amos Daniel in Washington Co., GA - b. btwn 1770 and 1780 > Ruth, > > A contributor to this list sometime back indicated that Nathan's (son of Joseph and Sarah (Barnes)) wife Sarah and a son Amos were administrators of his estate according to his 1809 Putnam Co. 3. Me, again, I really only cherry-picked on these films so far, was really majorly (what a word) looking for the Tranquility folk and to spot something big for the others, didn't really get to the latter. The index for all this is film #32517, the books follow from there pretty much, with a jump out to the #1870867 series for a while, all findable (more great vocab) at the FHC catalogue. And really sadly, I just didn't get to the loose estate papers, such gems awaiting there. Most of the lands mentioned in these are pretty trackable (I'm on fire today) in the deeds (hopefully coming soon to a mail list near you). Tax lists show Martin is in the east, William and sons William and Thomas are in the central-west. Another regret, didn't get to the full tax lists! 3. It is my strong belief we are part of the HOLLOWAY family of Southside VA, but if we have a DANIEL connection to HOLLOWAY, that is not known. We do have two DANIELS lines, or MC DANIEL in one case. Mahulda HOLLOWAY m. John POOL (RS) and I have POOL on a deed with Asa HOLLOWAY'S son in law, Edgefield (SC). Asa was from Brunswick and is possibly Mahulda's brother, or at least related. 2. Audrey, Yes, I have a HOLLOWAY line - though short. In the other e-mail I explained somewhat of what I have. Are you connected to this line also? I am from Samuel Daniel and Elizabeth Jane Holloway. Suzanne

    2. Audrey, Your pretty much have the same information that I have. I have several borrowed HOLLOWAY books and none of them have much on this branch. In fact one of the book list it as an "outside family" - whatever that means. I'll look again and if I find more than you have I shall let you know ASAP. Suzanne

    1. Re: [DANIEL-L] Re: Daniel, Mayfield, Price, Berry
    2. Anne, I also have the PRICE family tied into my DANIEL line. I have not done very much research with that line yet because I have been chasing DANIEL's all of the US. May I ask what you are looking for - - not that I have it, I am sure, but maybe since I will be working on the PRICE family your information may give me a clue as to something new to look for. Suzanne

    2. Audrey, I found some information on the Holloway connection to the Daniel family in a Holloway Family book. I don't have the notes here right now but I will find them and get back to you. I do remember that Elizabeth's father's name was Grey/Gray Holloway. Suzanne ([email protected])

    3. Anyone on the List have any MAYFIELD, BERRY or PRICE collaterals to their DANIEL line/lines, say, before 1786 (besides Audrey)?? Or any witnesses or executors you can remember?? Thanks. Anne

    3. Misty, Do you have a HOLLOWAY line? I see several DANIELS in my HOLLOWAY book. 3. Hi, Thanks so much. Someone sent me the marriage record of Elizabeth's. I too have a HOLLOWAY and Grey is named as s/o William HOLLOWAY, s/o George HOLLOWAY (Mecklenburg Co, VA). Grey's family is not in the book, but sure wish it was. He was married to Maryann BAKER. 2. Josiah was s/o James Daniel and Jane Hicks of Albemarle County, VA , g/s of Robert Daniel and Margaret Price of Middlesex County, VA and gg/s of Capt William Daniel who was our immigrant. I'll be glad to send you my file if you don't have this info. This is one of the lines that has been tested for DNA. Josiah did not have a brother named Martin. His wife, Elizabeth Key, was d/o Martin Key.
