    1. [DANIEL] James Daniel Sr. - Georgia
    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/GNR.2ACIB/1861 Message Board Post: I am looking for information on a James Daniel "Sr.". I know he lived in Oglethorpe County, Georgia from about 1800 to 1821. I also believe he had a son named John Beverly Daniel (who married Susan Berry in 1810) but have never really been able to confirm this link. There are several James and John Daniels listed in the early Georgia records and I am hoping someone can point me in the right direction. Thanks - Brantley Clegg

Surnames: Daniel, Lytal, Long, Gerstenkorn, Bartlett, Hollibaugh, Stanberry, Murphy, Byrd Classification: Obituary Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/GNR.2ACIB/1860 Message Board Post: James Jordan Daniel was first married to Mary Elizabeth Lytal, and his second wife is said to have been Mary Josephine Long. His obituary was first published in The Daily Enterprise, Cleburne, Texas, 28 March 1912. The attached images are from the reprint of the obituary which appeared in The Weekly Enterprise, Cleburne, Texas, 4 April 1912, page [7]. References to "today" and "tomorrow" in the obituary are relative to the original publication date. Text of the obituary: AN OLD CITIZEN DEAD. >From Thursday's Daily. J. J. Daniel, died at his home six miles south of Cleburne this morning at 8:20 o'clock, surrounded by 12 of his 14 living children. He had been sick for quite awhile, the ravages of old age carrying him away. Deceased was born Oct. 11, 1831, in Green County, Alabama. He moved from there to Baldwin [Baldwyn], Miss., residing there until 1876, when he moved to Kaufman County, Texas, and after two or three years residence at that place, he then moved to Cleburne, Johnson County, where he has resided almost continuously since. He served in the civil war in Company K. 19th Mississippi Regiment. He was an active member of the Baptist Church since 1873, and a member of the Masonic order since 1868, his membership being in Cleburne Lodge No. 315. The funeral will take place at 2:30 o'clock tomorrow, Friday afternoon, under the auspices of the Masonic Lodge. At the time of his death he was surrounded by 12 of his 14 children—they being W. R. Daniel of Cleburne; G. W. Daniel of Bishop, Texas; J. C. Daniel of Featherston, Ok.; J. V. Daniel of Derden, Tex., J. E. Daniel of Konawa, Okla., Frank Daniel of Carbon, Tex.; Jesse Daniel of Byars, Okla.; Mrs. H. A. Gerstenkorn of Mineral Wells; Mrs. Chas. Bartlett of Fort Worth; Mrs. M. E. Hollibaugh of Enid, Ok.; Mrs. J. C. Stanberry and Mrs. May Murphy of Cleburne. Two children, C. H. Daniel of Cedarville, Ark., and Mrs. Ada Byrd of Portales, New Mexico, could not arrive here. Mr. Daniel had always been a good citizen and besides the children he leaves a large number of grandchildren and friends innumerable to revere his memory and emulate his example. He lived a long and useful life, and has now been called to enjoy the Peace given by Him who said "Well done, thou Faithful Servant, Enter into the joys of thy Lord."

    3. I have been on the board before and just returned. I am still searching for the parents of Tilman R. Daniel. Since I last posted, I have found some interesting facts. So many of you tried to help me and we suspected that this line was from Brunswick. I am even more convinced of this. I will recap what I already know. 1. Tilman was b in VA (1850 census) 2. He m Nancy Lucy in Warren Co, NC, 29 June 1812 3. Daughter, Mary Ann b ca 1813 4. Son, Theophilus P. (my husband's ancestor) b ca 1815 (d before the 1850 census) 5. Tilman m Mary Nicholson in Davidson Co., TN, 30 Oct 1816 6. Moved to Giles Co, TN and then to Chickasaw Co, MS I had always thought that Theophilus was the s/o Mary but have recently found that he was the s/o Nancy Lucy. There are some documents on line giving power of attorney to Richard G. Scoggins in Brunswick Co, VA. One document was filed by Mary Ann Daniel Buchanan and the other filed by Tilman R. Daniel for his minor son, Theophilus P. Daniel. They are asking for a portion of the Lucy estate. The date is 1833. The Lucy family was from Brunswick. I believe Nancy was the d/o Joshua and Elizabeth Kelly Lucy. This needs a little more work. Freda Daniel

    1. Re: [DANIEL] Ellick Daniel , son of William Daniel? Does anyone know where he...
    2. Alexander (Elleck) Daniel settled in Rowan Co., NC and married Sarah Martin there on 11 Nov 1807. His will was dated Dec. 25, 1829 and was probated ? 1830 in Rowan Co. He left wife "Sally", son Anderson and daus. Anny Deadmon and Eliza Daniel. His brother John also settled there, married Polly Morgin sic on 21 Sep 1813 with Elleck as bondsman. John died in Davidson Co., NC (out of old Rowan) before 9 Aug 1826 when Cuthbert and Joseph Daniel along with Johnathan Bodenhamer were executors of John's estate. Brother Drury was also there at some point as he witnessed a deed of Elleck's but there doesn't appear to be a lot of data on Drury. Mike Daniel
