Russell RENEAU and Elizabeth STOCKTON of Jefferson County, TN, later of Newton County, GA and Crawford County, AR. Robert was born in Greene or Wayne County, NC, the don of Robert C. DANIEL ( abt 1765-aft 1830) and Penelope LANE ( 1773-1846). We have Penelope's age, DOB and DOD because her obit was published in the Southern Christian Advocate ( SC edition) in 1846. We also know via DNA testing to whom RWD descends - Capt. William DANIEL of Middlesex County, VA. (kit# 20707) and he was related to Josiah DANIEL and Chesley DANIEL of Granville County, NC. We just do not know who was the father of RCD. We are also not sure what the C. stood for. Some in the family have said, Chaney and some say Chesley. My best bet is Chesley. John R. Harry, I believe your James DANIEL's father was Robert who died in Martin Co bef 1786 and was spouse of Mary Swain. I have to admit it is only by process of elimination that I say this because proof, if any, is sketchy. There were in this Robert's data several Robasons (although William, Hannah's father never appeared in it). Also Hannah's mother was Mary Smithwick. Robert's property was on Poplar Creek which was also called Smithwick's. Mike Daniel
Good morning Carol, thanks for bring this fine Daniels family to our attention. Being from Raleigh and very familiar with the News and Observer Daniels, I appreciate this family. These are Daniels with the "s" and may not match up with our Daniel families without the "s"; however, I do maintain a file on Clifford and any data you have to share would be appreciated. I. E., your Josephus. Payne Information is slim to none for Getha BROWN, Her death certificate gives her father's name as William BROWN, her place of birth as Snow Hill, R#2, N. C., b. Nov. 30, 1880, d.Sept.28,1953. Kirthwood Daniels pronounced her name as Gether or Gethar. Her mother was Mary LNU. __________________________________ > Thomas DANIELS b. N. Ireland > m. I'm looking for info on Walter DANIEL born bet 1795-1805 in VA. He married 1st Peggy HARLIN 14 Jun 1827 in Williamson Co., TN. I'm unable to find any children. Walter married 2nd Anna JONES 23 Apr 1838 in Williamson Co., TN. They had one known child Paralee DANIEL born 04 Mar 1839 in Williamson Co., TN. Paralee married 1st James TRUETT and 2nd William Calvin WATKINS (son of Joel WATKINS and Judith DANIEL). I have been unable to determine if there is a connection between Walter and Judith. I have lot's of info on Judith's ancestors thanks to Payne. I know there are at least 3 Walter DANIELs who left VA for TN and would be close to the same age as my Walter, but my research shows no obvious connection either between the the various Walter DANIELs or a connection to Judith DANIEL. Any information or assistance great appreciated and I will gladly share. Thanks, Kim <[email protected]>

Just a rhetorical question: Since "Roll Call" is a very generic subject, would it be beneficial next time around if folks used something like "Roll Call - (Name and/or place of their family progenitor)" to identify their line in the list archives? Yes, I didn't quite do it that way either, but in retrospect wish I had. Robert
