Author: tawquish Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.daniel/2166.1.1.1/mb.ashx Message Board Post: Hi Gerry, Glad I could help out. I wanted to let you know that I have done a little more looking around this morning and I found James M. Daniel age 55 b. Georgia on the 1910 Justice Precinct 7, Franklin County, Texas. His wife is listed as Emly F. (spelled as found on the census record) Daniel age: 53 b. Alabama (parents born in Georgia). Cora is listed as age 17. Also in the household is Lenard F., Artie L. (who, by the way, is a daughter) and Arvilla Townson widowed daughter age 30 b. Alabama with her mother listed as being born in Mississippi and her daughter Rosa V. Townson age 5 b. Texas. James stated that he had been married twice and Emly only once. Emma/Emily stated that she had 5 children born to her with only four living. Maybe there was a child born between Walker and Cora since there is a four year difference in their ages in 1900. I couldn't find the Daniel or Bell families in 1920...although I did find Leonard Daniel who was married to Stella M. (--?--) in Mount Vernon, Franklin County, Texas. Evidently they had just married as they are not listed with any children. Evidently Cora and Hope married in Heard County, Georgia as I found Hope living with his mother in 1910, he is 18 yrs old. Cora and Hope's son, Ernest was born abt. 1915 in Georgia and I could find Cora and Hope in Heard County, Georgia in 1930....so where is everyone in 1920? Cora's siblings 1n 1900 were Walker R. b. Alabama abt. 1890, Leonard b. Texas abt. 1896 and Artie b. Texas abt. 1898. They are found on the 1900 census for Justice Precinct 5, Fannin County, Texas. 1. [DANIEL] George B. Daniel
    2. Jim, you are right about George B. Daniel being at the right place at the right time to be a possible brother to your John Daniel and my James B. Daniel. Compare the lists of children of the three men. I know that isn't proof but it is convincing. John Daniel moved from Caswell County, NC, after 1830 and arrived in Jackson County, MO, in 1836. George B. married in Jackson in 1837 to Rebecca Savage who lived near John Daniel. They are on the same page in the 1840 census of Jackson County. John's children were Mary Ann, Frances Araminta, Sarah Jane, Martha Francis, James Henry, Roann, George Houston, Josiah and Julia Florence. John's only identified sibling, James B. Daniel who stayed in Caswell County named his children: Stephen W., John Green, Dreury M., Mary Jane, James Leonard, Rowanna, Araminta, Elizabeth C., Andrew Jackson, George Lafayette. Compare these to George B's list: Josiah, Sarah, John Brown, Martha Jane, Mary, George, Frances Marion, Araminta, Lucinda, and Jeff Davis (born before the Civil War). John and James B.'s parents were James Key and Sarah "Sallye" Brown Daniel. James Key was s/o Josiah and Elizabeth Key Daniel. Of course, I have no proof of any relationship to George B. but he seemed to be in the right places at the right time and was the right age. James Key and Sallye Brown Daniel had two unidentified sons and two daughters not identified. Rosalyn Daniels Sumner

    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Author: roloda Surnames: DANIEL EILAND DANIELL SANKEY Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.daniel/2165/mb.ashx Message Board Post: Hello, All. In the effort to discover what is correct, might we be able to resolve some considerable differences in postings on the family of Absolom EILAND, 1750-1814, and Ann Nancy DANIEL, 1753-1839? Both died in Jones Co., GA, but are said to have been born in either NC, SC, or GA. This EILAND family's association with James DANIELL of Fairfield Co., SC, and Greene and Hancock Cos., GA in the 1780s and 90s, coupled with their naming a son Levi Daniel EILAND in 1791 has intrigued me for years. Levi DANIELL, my third great-great-grandfather was James' youngest son. CIRCUMSTANTIAL EVIDENCE suggests that Ann DANIEL may be a daughter of James DANIELL of Fairfield County, SC and his as yet unproven first wife. James died in Hancock County, GA before 5 March 1798. This tentative assignment MAY NOT BE CORRECT. Some post Ann and Absolom married in 1775 in Fairfield Co., SC, others say in Johnston Co., NC, or GA. Some say her father was James DANIEL (d. 1797 in Hancock Co., GA) and her mother was an Ann Nancy SANKEY who purportedly died 18 January 1814 in Baldwin Co., GA; BUT, this Nancy was not a SANKEY. She was Nancy HARDWICK, the second wife and widow of James DANIELL who had remarried in 1802 to James BARROW of Baldwin Co. The case for Ann being James' daughter and why James' widow cannot be Ann Nancy SANKEY is posted at http://roloda.googlepages.com/home. Click "What is correct?" under DANIEL, EILAND, DANIELL, SANKEY on the right side of the page. The compilation of conflicting information and explanations is a bit long to post here. It will also be easier to make potental corrections in a single place rather than trying to correct multiple copies and miss one. Any assistance, corrections, or additional information are welcome and appreciated. Bob Daniell Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. Author: rosalynsumner37 Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.daniel/2163.2/mb.ashx Message Board Post: I am a descendant of James B. Daniel who died in Orange County, NC. However, we believe that he probably went to Jackson County, and returned to NC. James Key's wife was Sallye Brown of Person County, NC. That is where the name Brown came from. I believe, but have no proof, that James B was James Brown Daniel. James Key had at least two sons that were not identified, as well as two daughters. My brother and I have been to Jackson County and learned that there was also a Robert Daniel who went there in 1836. He was s/o a Robert Daniel who was born in Middlesex County, VA. However, he came from Kentucky. I have a short biography on him but have not heard of this George. I have an undated map of the county showing where different people lived. I do not find George. Both John and Robert Daniel are on this map. I would like to know more about George B. Daniel. Do you have his birth year? How long did he stay in MO? You are right, these names do sound like they belong to the same family. John Daniel's family was Confederate as was his family in NC. What connection did John Daniel's family have to Sherman, TX? Do you have a male Daniel that has had DNA testing? My brother, Cecil Daniels, has been tested and we have our Daniel line documented.
