I am working on my brick walls and here is one of them. My 3rd great grandfather is John Dale who married Frances Daniel daughter of Vivion Daniel and his wife Elizabeth Vivion. They were from Middlesex County in Va. I have 12 pages on my John Dale in the Rev War. He was in SEVERAL skirmish's in the war and was a Private but achieved rank of Sargeant. He is listed as John Deel in the Rev War record but later the correct spelling of his surname is Dale. He entered the war 27 Feb 1779 and was in the 6th Regt. of Va State troops under Capt. Wayles and also entered service under Valentine Payton, of Prince William County, Va. John Dale is also mentioned as being of Prince William Co., Va in his Rev War records serving under Col. Henry Lee as a militia man opening roads for the baggage Waggons of Gen. Washington to the beseiging of Lord Cornwallace.. He was living in FARQUHER County in Va at the time. As said he served under several commanders. When John Dale was questioned in TN on his Rev War service he gave the following answers: 1st: "Where and what country were you born.. Answer: " I was born in the year of 1763." 2nd: "Have you any record of your age and if so where is it ?".. Answer : I have a family register, now at my house." ( I do not have this record but wish I did..... Marianne) 3rd: " Where were you living when called into service and where have you lived since the revolutionary war"?... Answer: " I lived in the counties of Farquher and Prince William, Virginia at the times I entered the service of the United States, in the war of the revolution, and where I continued to reside until 1784, being then a single young man. I then removed to Wilks county in the State of Georgia, and lived in said county about three years, and then returned to Bedford County Virginia, where I lived until the year 1788, and from thence to Clark County state of Kentucky where I lived nineteen years; and thence I came to Jackson County State of Tennessee where I lived five years, and from thence I came to White County Tennessee, here I have lived ever since, and where I now live." He was allowed pension in 1832 and he died 1833 in White Co., Tn. So, would anyone know who the Dales that lived in Fauquier and Prince William counties in Va where my John Dale was born in 1763. Any info would greatly be appreciated. Marianne Dillow Illinois
My ancestor, William Dale was from those counties. He was born 1737 or thereabouts. He married Anne Young from Prince William County. Some of the Dales came from Richmond County Va, as I recall. Do you have a male Dale who can take the DNA test? That might help.
