We can arrange a meeting hall, accomodations, etc etc although the latter might be in the form of tentage and porta-privies if we hold it where our Dales settled in Quebec. I will post to this site as plans start to gel. Ron Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. You have now confirmed it for me - my great grandfather was William Thomson born 1843 deceased 1919 and my great grandmother was Florence Moorhead born 1953 deceased 1909. Is that correct? I knew my father had to be named after a decendant so he was named after his grandfather. I did locate a William Edgar Emerson Thomson in Perth, Ontario - not sure if it is any relation. I figured this William married to Florence must be the one as it showed him having a son named Ivan. We had an Uncle Ivan who was still alive after my father was deceased. We had been to his cottage when we were young. I am not trying to avoid giving you info - it is just that I am new at this and you hear of so many horror stories over the internet - I am just being cautious. My first name is Kim. I still don't know your name. I do not have anything on the Thomsons before your great grandparents William and Florence. I do have a lot on the Dales and Armstrongs. Send me a note at ronaldjdale(at)netscape.net and I can send you a photo of the Dale house in Ballymulderg, County Derry. I do not know Dianna Dale but I do have a record of Dianne Dale who descends from the Edward Dale line from Shawville. Edward was, I believe, a nephew of the first John Dale to settle in Pontiac. Charles Dale of Shawville had his DNA done and the comparison with mine shows a common ancestor back about 8 generations-so I am reasonably sure of the relationship to our John. Let me know what information you would like to have and I can send it in the form of a GEDCOM if you have a genealogical programme that supports this type of document. I started this for fun to see how far back our lineage goes. Unfortunately I don't have much on the Thomson's I am finding it hard to locate anything on my grandfather's side. My father William Emerson Thomson was born January 21, 1930 and deceased September 1968 in Kingston, Uncle Dale was born 1928 and of course is still alive and Aunt Janice was born somewhere around 1931 or 1932 deceased approx. April 1955 or 1956. Aunt Janice had juvenile diabetes and she passed away 3 days after giving birth to her only child. She was married to David Lemay. My father married Grace Stevenson from Kingston and although they resided at my grandparents home for awhile they later moved back to Kingston. My mother unfortunately passed away February 29, 2008 at 80 years of age. My parents only had 2 children me and my sister - I am not at liberty to give out info on my sister without her permission. My Uncle Dale Thomson was married to Merle A! rmstrong and she passed away April 1996. They had 3 children - a girl and 2 boys. The oldest boy resides in the Dale family homestead in Shawville. There is a Thomson family homestead outside of Shawville not sure exactly where as it was along time ago when I was there. Do you know a Diana Dale - I came across her sign on name in the connections field. She has alot of the same info on her family tree as we do. It turns out that my daughter shares the same birthdate as our great, great, great grandfather John Dale. This is all pretty interesting. A family reuninon would be fun but sure would be alot of work to get everyone together. We had a small Thomson family reunion in 1984 or 1985 at the Thomson homestead near Shawville. I live just west of Ottawa. Well that's about all I have for now. Hope to hear from you soon. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. I am looking for more information about the death of James DALE who was shot and killed in a dispute at a water well in Sanderson, Texas, before 1891. Some sources say he died in 1884 but give no reason for this date. James was married to Louisa ESTES in 1870 in Jefferson County, Illinois. Thanks for whatever help, Debbie Dale

We are 4th cousins tracing back to John Dale and Elizabeth Armstrong as our common ancestors. I would be interested in adding anything that you can give me on the Thomsons to my database. I had your Dad's name but no other details--birth or death dates, marriage, children, etc. I have a lot on the Dales and would be very happy to share. I grew up in Stittsville but now live in Niagara-on-the-Lake. My sisters and I were thinking of holding a Dale reunion at some point as close to Shawville as possible. This may have to wait a couple of years for my retirement to give me time to organize. I am in contact with Dales descended from the same ancestral Dales from County Derry (actually from Ayrshire Scotland) who live in England, Ireland, Australia, the US and New Zealand. Maybe some of them would come to Canada if we gave enough advance notice--two or three years. What do you think? Where in the Valley do you live? Arletta married John Lionel Erskine Thomson in 1927 and had 3 children Dale Thomson, William Thomson and Janice Thomson. My older sister was born on January 25 and shares the same birthday as our great grandfather. My cousin currently lives in the Dale homestead on Main street in Shawville, Quebec, Canada. My Uncle Dale who is the only surviving member in his immediate family lives next door to the Dale Homestead. My Uncle Dale was also married to an Armstrong - Merle who passed away in April 1996. Our Uncle Leonard (Arletta's brother)had a son Merwood who use to live in Chesterville, Ontario he is deceased as well. That is a little background on how I am related to the Dales. Unfortunately my father - William Thomson - died in September 1968 at 38 years of age. His sister Janice died in 1954 3 days after giving birth to her only child Billy (William) named after my father. So I gather we must be related. Where are you located? I actually live in the valley (Ottawa Valley). Hope to hear back from you. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. The 1840 census shows just heads of household and the only Dale who fits as the father of the above is John H. Dale after whom William Leonard's oldest brother was named. John H. Dale was the son of John Dale who shows in White in the 1830 census. Now I wonder if they go back to the Viriginia Dales who were English or the Maryland Dales who were Scots/Irish? John Francis Dale was born in 1858 in Clarendon Township, son of Thomas Dale and Annie Armstrong. Thomas and Annie were first cousins. Thomas Dale was the son of John Dale and Elizabeth Armstrong. This John Dale was born in Magadone, near Magherafelt in Derry around 1801, son of John Dale and Elizabeth Wilson. This John Dale was born ca 1777 in Ballymulderg Beg near Magherafelt while Elizabeth Wilson was from Ballymulderg More, the townland right beside it. John Dale and Elizabeth Armstrong had three other children besides Thomas. My ancestor, John Dale, was the eldest son of this couple and therefore the uncle of John Francis Dale. The eldest son in this line is always given the name John. As the first born son in my family, my middle name is John. My eldest son's middle name is also John and when he aand his wife gave us our first grandchild, they gave the lad the middle name John to carry on a tradition which I can trace back to 1650. How are you related to these Pontiac Dales? You may be interested to know that if you are a descendent, all of the DNA information from my test will equally apply to yourself. For some reason I am not getting a notification when someone posts to this thread. I have Emily Dale marrying Thomas Ferguson in Belfast on August 31, 1900. Robert married Margaret Neal in 1858 in Loughall, Armagh. There was a Robert Dale who married Mary Ward in Loughall in 1846 and I am wondering if this could be the first marriage? There was a Sarah Jane Dale whose father was Robert who married in the same church as Emily in 1908. I wonder if this could be a sister? He was killed at age 27 in 1864, and was a Confederate solider during the civil war. He served with 1 Battalion, (Colms') Tennessee Infantry, E Company, i believe. He was married to Amanda Haston in White Co., Tennessee, and had a newborn baby with her at the time of his death, William "Billy" Leonard Dale, Jr.. Billy would be my great-great-grandfather. This is essentially all i know about William L. Dale, Sr. I would like to know where he was born (if not Tennessee), and who his parents and siblings were, and anything else possible. If it helps, i know a few more details about Amanda's family, and much more about Billy's life and family. Billy spent his life in Arkansas, with his wife Olive and their children.
