As far as we are aware, he was born in Staro Serlo, Bulgaria, around 1880. When he first arrived, he worked for a sawmill as a clearer and cutter, while he developed a market garden. He may have had previous experience in a greengrocer to prompt him to do this work. Unfortunately, he died in 1954, and my cousin and I are doing what we can to find any relatives in Bulgaria or any other eastern european countries where they may have ended up. If you think that there may be some link between our families, please let us know.

After approximately May 21st this data base will no longer be accessible for free. Ancestry will be begin offering a OneWorldTree Preview at $49.95 for 14 months for access to these donated trees. If you'd prefer that your information not be sold, there is a link below which will take you to a set of instructions on opting out by deleting your tree. I am Sara Bogdanov, daughter of Georgi Georgiev Bogdanov (Bulgaria 1930-2000) and Renate Riepert (Germany 1940). I have a brother Georg Bogdanov. On my Fathter’s site: Georgi Gerogiev Bogdanov was the second son after Ivan Georgiev Bogdanov of Zaphira Dacheva (Bulgaria 1900-1982) and Gerogi Bogdanov (Bulgaria ?????) Zaphira Dacheva’s sibilings Assen Dachev (Bulgaria) and Dimitar ????? To my knowledge at the time of her youth her family owned a store –I believe it was a grocery store. They had a very helpful helper/manager “chirak”. he left Bulgaria and I believe he came to the U.S. under the Dachev name … that must have been after 1910…. Does this make sense to any one?????

    1. [DACH] Richard J. Dach Obituary
    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Surnames: Dach Classification: Obituary Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/6K.2ADIAE/11 Message Board Post: >From the late 1940s to the 1980s, thousands of women relied on Dr. Richard J. Dach for their well-being. A specialist in obstetrics and gynecology, Richard was a caring doctor who was known for taking extra time with his patients. ''He was very, very concerned and caring,'' said his daughter, Sharron Farris. ''He spent an inordinate amount of time with his patients, much to his scheduler's frustration.'' On Nov. 11, years after having retired from his profession, Richard died in his sleep at his King City, Ore., home, surrounded by his family. He was 87. Richard had entered the field of medicine at the urging of his father, also a doctor, Farris said. In later years, Richard confessed to his family that he would have loved to have been a forest ranger instead. ''He loved the outdoors,'' she said. Richard was born in 1914 in Reeder, N.D. He attended the University of North Dakota and then, like his father, went to Northwestern University to study medicine. At Northwestern he met Lilas Retzlaff. They married on June 9, 1940, and moved to New Orleans, where Richard did his residency in obstetrics and gynecology. Richard used his medical skills in World War II, when he was a captain in the Army Medical Corps. After the service, Richard and his wife moved to Long Beach, where he began an OB-Gyn practice at Harriman Jones Clinic. He opened a private practice in 1952 and continued to care for thousands of women for several decades. The couple raised three children and made frequent use of their Ultravan motor home to visit countless national parks, go fishing and travel in the Northwest. ''He loved to deep sea fish,'' Farris said. Richard also enjoyed working on his extensive stamp and coin collections, playing handball and swimming. In 1980, Richard retired and the couple moved to Philo, Calif., where they worked with son John to start a vineyard and organic apple orchard. Richard became an avid rose grower and gardener. ''Their home backed up against a golf course, and golfers would come up and admire the roses,'' Farris said. When Richard's health began to decline, he and his wife moved to a retirement community near Portland, Ore., to be closer to daughter Sharron. Richard is survived by wife, Lilas, daughter and son-in-law Sharron and Nelson Farris, son and daughter-in-law John and Cynthia Dach, and son and daughter-in-law Daryl and Carol Dach. He is also survived by grandchildren Bryan Farris, Lori Farris, Todd Farris, Elise Dach, Carolyn Dach and Richard Dach. In lieu of a service, the family will host a celebration of Richard's life in early 2002. Memorial donations can be made to The Women's Forest Sanctuary, P.O. Box 1693, Ross, CA 94957, Attn: In Memory of Richard Dach; or to a local hospice chapter. The family can be reached by e-mail at bltsn@attbi.com.
