Just a recap on what I'm doing and where I'm going: September 15, 2004 my cousin Linda Skalicky and I are going to the Old Country. We will visit the countryside, churches, mayor's offices ( where the books are sold) , etc. I will also be speaking at a Heritage Conference and meeting the Ambassador. ; ) There will be lots of people at this Conference for which I will mention many if not all of our ( ya'lls) surnames. I will also have these emails you have sent lying around for all to see. I will be talking to many many people in many counties/ villages. I'm not going shopping or sightseeing. I am going to talk, talk, talk. Somewhere along the way, if I happen to meet a man named Marek, Mikeska or Pustejovsky, I will think of this group and wish I had ya'lls information. This is why I have asked anybody interested to send me their info. I am not sure of all the places we will be going but if I happen to be visiting your village and 1. if they have a history book 2. I have the money, I will pick you up a history book, maybe find something out for you, find somebody with your last name or leave your info behind. While out for lunch today, we pulled out our map (bought over there) and started to highlight some of the places we are going. Some of the places so far are: Ceske Budejovice, Ceske Krumlov, Zadervice, Beroun Broumy, Rokcany, Paradubice, Vysoke Myto, Petrovice and Kuncice, etc. As far as what village books are available? I do know that for my 4 or 5 villages, there are books available now. I dont know yet of all the available villages. I would suggest contacting the mayor's office of your area. I dont remember the cost for the books I have bought. If they were under $100 they would be well worth it to me just to have the book of our village. You can look your village up on the internet and contact the mayor that way or go to www.seznam.cz and search for your village and maybe even history books. I will be in contact to those of you who are interested in the books. As far as the emails you sent today, they will be used on the trip. Thanks to all that sent their info. I love to find new hits, even if it is for somebody else. Thanks again, Jitka = Judy P.S. I'm also going to the Lichnov Museum dedicated to the Czechs that moved to Texas. Possibly your emails can be left there if there were no other leads on your surname. So, keep those emails coming.
