    1. Re: [CZ] Ceske Budejovice
    2. To add to the conversation: I've been the C Budejovice a couple times. It has a really large town square. If I recall correctly, it may be the largest town square in any town in Bohemia. It has gone through major facelifting since the Velvet Revolution. I think the community is about 60,000, and of course there are a lot of smaller villages that are now being absorbed by the city as it grows. Budweiser Budvar is produced there and has been for many centuries -- It is the Beer of Kings, NOT to be confused with the Anheiser Busch product known as the King of Beers! There is NO comparison in taste. Budweiser Budvar is absolutely excellent. Since the brewery has become a private enterprise after the fall of communism, it has dramatically increased its production and also extended the reach of its distribution throughout the world. The beer cannot be sold in the US because of numerous lawsuits surrounding the Budweiser name that have been going on for decades, but a re! named product -- Czechvar -- has begun distribution in some states of the US. More than you needed to know? I can go on as my "cousin" (4th) works there. -- Formerly MartJ01@aol.com > Hi Alice, > > Ceske Budejovice is a fairly major town in southern Bohemia, south of > Prague and pretty close to Cesky Krumlov.
