To locate a place in the Czech Republic is relatively easy if you use the correct tools. The only problem is to be certain you have the correct village becasue there are numerous duplicates. In the cas of Ceske Budejovice this is easy because it is in Bohemia (Ceske) and is South of Prague. If memory serves me correctly, Budweiser beer is from this place and it is also called Budweis in German. The best place to start is with your Mail List website at: http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~elainetmaddox/index.htm Select Czech Geneaolgy from the left hand menu. Go down the page to "On-Line Research Tools". At this point you have several choices. You could use the JewishGen ShtetlSeeker Town Locator. If you do you will find a link to a map showing it's location. notice there is only one choice which is good! If you put in the name Budweis, you will get both names together. You can also use the Atlas Map Server which has more information. Select the English version and put the town name in under the header "city, street, post code or object:". When it comes up, you will find "Obec", "Okres", etc. Click on "obec" and keep minimizing the map until you can see it's excat location in the country.
