Hi Mary, Checked the image and it is very clear. Checked for the family in Iowa with no results. However, since the 1890 census was lost and the 1900 and 1910 censuses are not indexed, it would require doing those censuses oneself, finding the county, twp., etc. and scanning for the names. Will check one other source and get back to you. I have been searching for this couple in subsequent censuses and haven't found this surname (or a myriad of variations) in Iowa or any of the surrounding states. However, in the 1880 federal census index, I found the following individuals which bear a lot of similarities to the family I'm looking for: Kansas, Republic County, Farmington Township Frank SHEMUSKA, Head, 32, born Bohemia, parents born Bohema Minny SHEMUSKA, Wife, 36, born Bohemia, parents born Bohemia Frank SHEMUSKA, Son, 7, born IA Wensil SHEMUSKA, Son, 5, born IA Edward SHEMUSKA, Son, 3, born IA Mary SHEMUSKA, Daughter, 1, born IA Unfortunately, I don't have access to the census images for this year. I'd appreciate it if someone that has access to the 1880 census images could take a look at the entries and tell me whether the image is pretty clear or whether there might be some alternate spellings for this family name Also, if anyone here has any ideas on finding census entries after 1880 for this family, or recognizes this family in Kansas, I'd appreciate hearing from you.
