From: KarenHob@aol.com <KarenHob@aol.com> Elaine, I forgot to add that the War Archive tends not to reply to multiple queries about the same soldier. I believe they look at them as an attempt to get 1/2 hour free research each time. They will reply to second queries from the same person IF they are about a different soldier than the first query. ************************************************************* I also am aware that Karen has written three articles for the EEGS Journal. They were Recruiting Rules / their impact on life decisions (marriage, emigration); Regiments (finding your ancestor's); and Using LDS Military Records. Karen has them on a $10 CD with some extras that include her talk in Houston on searching for Czech and Slovak records at the LDS and some sample documents, etc. It all prints out to more than 100 pages on basic research instructions with some background history. I plan to buy one and thought I would mention it here since the availability is not widely known. Karen's address is above at the top of this post should you want additional information. I have no connection with her other than telling you of my admiration for her work. I understand Karen also has a computer user's guide for people who have never used the LDS CD or web site. It shows what the screens look like in color and explains what to click on for their data bases and for their catalog. Then it shows how to use the catalog screens and how to print and save stuff from them. It tells what to do when saving film images to your own CD at an FHC. Karen will add this material to the above CD if people want her to do that. I plan to ask for it. Karen
