    1. Re: AW: [CZ] Stubenbach/Gruberg - ONLINE Gazetteer
    2. Betty, I mentioned last evening that Stubenbach and Gruberg had the same coordinates as Dolni Kamenec at 83.4 miles SW of Prague in the Czech Republic. When I checked those coordinates using the link to MapQuest at ShtetlSeeker, the only close village to that location was Prasily. MapQuest is not a very reliable map server either. I assumed that Dolni Kamenec was close by. That is when I stopped looking further. As pointed out, ShtetlSeeker has its limitations and there are other tools (and probably more usedful ones)listed under On-Line Research Tools at the CZECH Mail List web site on the Genealogy page: http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~elainetmaddox/czgenealogy.htm At the top of the list is Felix Gundacker's Gazetteer and Geographical Listing of Placenames. I was in error not to point out that his source materials are a very useful resource for identifying old villages and parishes. Also on the same page is a link to the Czech Atlas Map Server. Had I taken the time to follow up on the Dolni Kamenec reference using Atlas, I would have realized that apparently no such place exists at that location either and the only close (and logical choice) village is Prasily. I apologise for the misinformation. Ron Mlejnek > > From: "Ing.
