Mel writes: I would like to know what it costs for a person in the Czech Republic to subscribe to the Internet and is it different for email use versus surfing the Web. ................................... Hi Mel ! Tho I cant answer some of your specifics I can tell you some info. !st, in Czechia, the local phone service is not like in the USA where you pay a monthly fee for all your local calls. Czechs pay per minute of use for all calls!! So the web is expensive for them. Mobile phones are a separate bill too, but reusable cards are mostly used I think. Czech Telecom is the big phone co., dont know if there are other locals, w/ local service, maybe some Czechs ( Listers) , in Czechia, can add to this. There are a lot of Internet Cafes, many in Prague and other cities. There is also tough mobile phone competition and that helps w/ costs. I dont know what monthly service costs, ive always used the Cafes when in the CR, its about 1-2 Kcs per minute, any more and its expensive. The exchange rate now is about 25 Kcs to the $. Hope that helps, Regards, Mike in AZ ( FL for now) SVARC~SWARTZ / CERNY / HAJEK / HOSEK / HRABAC / KREISSINGER
