Well, strictly speaking, I wouldn't consider 'Honza' to be a diminutive for 'Jan'. It is rather a variant of the name, but it lacks the 'diminutive' meaning in the Czech language. You are correct, however, that in German 'Hans' is a diminutive for 'Johann(es)' and that's where the Czech 'Honza' and 'Jan' came from. Jenda, Jenik, Jenicek, Janek would be examples of diminutives for Jan. Honzik, Honzicek would be diminutives for Honza.
