    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Surnames: Hobza and Janak Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.co.uk/mbexec/msg/5538/lRC.2ACE/2705.2 Message Board Post: Jimi, I found your posting on the Ancestry message board and thought I would share with you some information I have regarding the Hobza family. My name is Joe Myers. Julianna Janak Palme was my great grandmother. Her mother was Christina Hobza who married Johann Janak. Christina was the sister of Albina Hobza. The Janak family and Hobza family both came over to America on the ship Belgenland that arrived in New York on May 31, 1883 (see the ships passenger list at the following link). http://www.immigrantships.net/v3/1800v3/belgenland18830531_1.html On this list, the Hobza's are listed as "Holza" probably due to a transcriber's error. The Janak family settled in New Bedford, Massachusetts which was also the first destination of the Hobzas. Note that the destination on the ships passenger list is Bedford instead of New Bedford. A family story has it that due to this error, the Janak family (and possibly the Hobzas) ended up traveling to Bedford, Pa first by mistake instead of New Bedford, and then had to take another journey to get to New Bedford. I have the baptism papers of Julianna Janak that list her maternal grandparents as Thomas Hobza and Franziska Krtek Hobza of Konigsreut, Budweis and Neuhaus district, Kingdom of Bohemia. I hope that you find this helpful and interesting. There may be some other material I have that may help you in your research. I am interested in any other information you might have about Albina and Edward. also. Best Regards, Joe Myers
