Untill 1918 Bohemia and Moravia were part of Austrian-Hungarian Empire, where German was the official language - therefore documents of your ancestor were written in German. You are lucky to know for sure that your Telnice is in Moravia. There is also another village of the same name in Bohemia, quite far away. Your Telnice is located very near to the city Brno (which is the centrum of Moravia). About 1250 inhabitants, 450 houses. First written notice from the year 1244 but acc. to historical research was the place inhabited since the Stone Age. During the famous Battle of Austerlitz many hard fights took place in Telnice.
