    2. Susan, Thanks again. I knew what "Geburtsort" meant but wasn't sure about the others, certainly not what it meant by "Charafter." Maybe "Heimatscheines" means the province or county, etc., in which one was born? Betty ************************************** See what's new at http://www.aol.com

    3. Betty - the words appear to be German -- although that was surprising to me. I couldn't find them in a Czech dictionary. I did find them on-line with a German-English translation. After looking at several pages I was able to find a printed version of the word - Heimat scheines which translated as Homeland Certificate. I think the distinction is that the person was born in one place but the family originated in another. Some people were born in Prague but were from an outlying area. It's all very interesting ... sure wish there was more online or available through the Mormons. Maybe someday. Good luck.
