    2. The closest I could find for the Village spelling in the "Genealogical Gazetteer of the Kingdom of Hungary" is Laksárujfalu Pozsony/Hegyentul. (Laxarujfalu, Neudorf, Nowawes). Now: Laksárska Nová Ves. It was in Pozsony County when it was part of Hungary but is now in the Slovak Republic. If your family was Roman Catholic the Archdiocese to contact would be Esztergom and if you think this could be the right village. Judy in Michigan. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Joseph Szikora" <jszikora@telus.net> To: <czech@rootsweb.com> Sent: Saturday, December 29, 2007 9:01 PM Subject: Re: [CZ] PLEASE HELP ME FIND MY GF > > > CAnne16560@aol.com wrote: > >>After 6 years of research over multitudes and multitudes of websites, >>census's, stats, stats, and more stats, I have just about given up trying >>to find >>out when my grandfather died and where he is buried. 3. Laksárska Nová Ves was one of the "close" matches using Jewish Gen ShtetlSeeker, but I did not think it could be the correct one. Apparently it is according to "Judy in Michigan's" Gazeteer. If you want to see the place on a map, you can use use the following link: http://www.jewishgen.org/Communities/LocTown.asp It is located 30 miles North of Bratislava, Slovakia. You will find 4 choices of maps; ie, E M U G. I prefer "M" for Map Quest. If you use the following link, you will find a variety of "Tools": http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/%7Eelainetmaddox/czgenealogy.htm#tools The best map is Mapy Atlas but it is in Slovak: http://mapy2.atlas.sk/MapViewer/mapviewer.aspx Cut and paste "Laksárska" (as furnished by Judy in Michigan) into the search box and then "click on" "Vyhladaj" or search. At the bottom is a section called "Velkost mapy" where you can change the image size. The resolution buttons are on the right side bar. You can click anywhere on the map to see that point at a higher resolution. rvm At 11:52 PM 01/02/2008, you wrote: >The closest I could find for the Village spelling in the "Genealogical >Gazetteer of the Kingdom of Hungary" is Laksárujfalu Pozsony/Hegyentul. >(Laxarujfalu, Neudorf, Nowawes).
