Hello Listers, I am trying to determine where in Bohemia my grandmother's family were born and from where they left before coming to Chicago c. 1871/72. Thanks any clues. Judie Mason Chicago

Please double check or purchase all of the family's death certificates. No one in my family knew from which village my grandfather Pavlik came and in my searching decided to purchase from Illinois, all the death certificates, (at that time they were 50 cents but rose to $1.00 in the 1960's.) Only one of the certificates had the village mentioned, Pocinovice, and I was on my way! Please be aware of the possibility that information on a death certificate may not be accurate. I assume that this may be due to the stress of the moment. For example three brothers and sisters had three different maiden (last) names for their mother. When I contracted a Czech genealogist to check the Czech records, I found that 2 of the 3 were close but none were completely correct.
