    1. [CZ] Lists of Czech soldiers durign WWI, WWII
    2. jiri mlejnek
    3. Dear List, if you write in the server <atlas.cz> the following: <Databaze cs. legionáru z 1. svetové valky>(Databasis of Czech legionists during the WWI), (the third position), maybe you can find relatives of your ancestors. The other list contains some of the soldiers killed during WWII. Prijmeni = surname, to write with "haceks and carka's" in capital letters. If you know - the birth year. If you write only the surname the list contains all (?) legionists with the mentioned name), mostly born between cca 1870-1900. A good toy... 1. Re: [CZ] Germans that were relocated from Bohemie...
    2. Hi Mary, try the german red cross https://www.drk-suchdienst.eu/content/categoryshow.php?CatID=2&lang=en they have an card register with over 50 million names, also about "Sudetendeutsche" You must fill an Form, send it to them and they do research for free. But it will need time for an answer. I found for example in the czech archive, that the wife from my ggrandfather's brother and two children from her and also a grandchild was driven out from the "Sudetenland" in 1946. I have then sent this Form to the red cross in the august 2007. End from the last year I have heard that they could find this persons in theirs card index. Now I know, that an part from this family was arrived in Germany. The red cross write then to the parish or town, where the people was later assigned. This parish write (perhaps anytime) back, that this family went for example later to an other country and town etc. Then, the red cross write again to this country and town etc. and so further and further.. Till they can find maybe an still living person from this family. It needs time. But I think anytime I will receive an letter from the red cross with good news. You can also try the search service from the church http://www.kirchlicher-suchdienst.de/en/ but I think the do charge at least 20$ per half hour or so, please read self good luck Lars Germany ----- Original Message ----- From: "List Administration" <etmaddox@verizon.net> To: "CZECH-L" <CZECH-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Tuesday, January 08, 2008 8:54 PM Subject: [CZ] Fwd: CZECH Mail List Query Entry > > > OUTPUT_FORM= > Mary Scott, < texanrose7@aol.com > has sent the following query to the > CZECH Mail List: > > Query= Does anyone know where I can get information regarding ethnic > Germans that were relocated from Bohemie to Germany after WWII? 3. Hello, Lastname Sykora (Sejkora, Sikora, Sekora) is frequent in Slavic countries. Meaning of the lastname is "titbird" (parus major). To the Kingdom of Hungary belonged also nowadays Slovakia. Sykora could be also Slovakian lastname but to keep the pronountiation in Hungarian, it spells SZIKORA (because in Hungarian language is S lpronounced as SH and SZ is pronounced as S). 3. Joseph -- thank you for sharing your story with me. I will tuck it away in my records as I continue my research. As I said before, the family has no idea where in Bohemia the family originated. That information may never be found. To make things sadder, Lawrence Seykora, residing in Miami, passed away suddenly over the Christmas holiday. However, I am going to continue my research as long as I can for them. I'm sure you are aware that there were Prochaska's and Jerabek's in New York City also. We can continue hoping that the Czech records will eventually be microfilmed for all to read. I know that they will be difficult to read ... but if I managed Italian records without knowledge of the language, I know I can at least make a decent attempt. Thanks again. 2. Hi Eileen, sorry I haven't to do with your tree or your names Wolf, Strnad etc., but I look in the Tax books and the Soul lists from 1651-1654 from the Prachensky district. There was no names listed in the estate Krestovice (Chrestovice) with parishes Kluky, Brezi, Dobesice, Radomilice, Strachovice, Lhota Likarova (Lekarova Lhota), Temelinec, Skaly and Kvaskovice. But I saw in the "area" from the district Pisek the following people in this period of time: Strnad, Jan lived in Boubska easterly from Vimperk Strnad Jan lived in Obora easterly from Vimperk by Netolice Strnad Jan lived in Budetice southwesterly from Horazdovice Strnad Jiri lived in Pametice nortwesterly from Pisek by Drhovle Strnad Jiri lived in Strakonice southwesterly from Pisek Strnad Vaclav lived in Susice westerly from Pisek and Volf, Simon lived in Kasperske Hory (Bergkreichenstein) Volf, Jan lived also in Kasperske Hory Volf, Jirik lived in Rejstejn (Unterreichenstein) by Kasperke Hory Volf, Jan in Protivin southerly from Pisek Volf, Vaclav in Tchorovice by Blatna northwesterly from Pisek I don't know how further you are back with your lines, but maybe it helps you, because your Wolf's (Volf) or Strnad's came from this other towns and parishes. good luck Lars Germany ----- Original Message ----- From: "Ron and Betty Mlejnek" <rvmlejnek@navix.net> To: <czech@rootsweb.com> Sent: Monday, December 31, 2007 9:37 PM Subject: [CZ] Fwd: CZECH Mail List Query Entry > Date: Mon, 31 Dec 2007 > From: Dick515@AL.com > Reply-to: Dick515@aol.com > Subject: CZECH Mail List Query Entry > > > Reply directly to > > "Eileen Schmitz" <Dick515@aol.com> > > who has sent the following query to the CZECH Mail List: > > I am researching the Wolf family tree from Bohemia. If you want to see the place on a map, you can use use the following link: http://www.jewishgen.org/Communities/LocTown.asp It is located 30 miles North of Bratislava, Slovakia. You will find 4 choices of maps; ie, E M U G. I prefer "M" for Map Quest. If you use the following link, you will find a variety of "Tools": http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/%7Eelainetmaddox/czgenealogy.htm#tools The best map is Mapy Atlas but it is in Slovak: http://mapy2.atlas.sk/MapViewer/mapviewer.aspx Cut and paste "Laksárska" (as furnished by Judy in Michigan) into the search box and then "click on" "Vyhladaj" or search. At the bottom is a section called "Velkost mapy" where you can change the image size. The resolution buttons are on the right side bar. You can click anywhere on the map to see that point at a higher resolution. rvm At 11:52 PM 01/02/2008, you wrote: >The closest I could find for the Village spelling in the "Genealogical >Gazetteer of the Kingdom of Hungary" is Laksárujfalu Pozsony/Hegyentul. >(Laxarujfalu, Neudorf, Nowawes). Now: Laksárska Nová Ves. It was in Pozsony County when it was part of Hungary but is now in the Slovak Republic. 1. Re: [CZ] Jedlicka of Cirkvice
    2. Susan: First of all St. Cyril and Methodius RC church is at 150 Dupont Street, Brooklyn, NY 11222. I know this as I have contacted them in 2000. None of my ancestors were from that parish. The parish I found Jedlickas in is Our Lady of Peace Church (had a different name in the late 1890s-forget what!) NYC. I have the address if you want it. My ggf Milosalv Tinger (Tingr/Tinker) was godfather to an Edward Miroslav Jedlicka in 1892-father Joseph Jedlicka and Maria Veriek (not sure of that spelling). Joseph Jedlicka came from the same small town as my grandfather ,the name of that town is Kasejovice in Bohemia. You can go on line -put in Kasejovice, Bohemia and you will find out lots of information. I have also found a Carolus Gedlicka and Maria-all from Kasejovice. If you want copies of the documents I have will be happy to mail them to you. I hope this is of help to you-if you want to contact me by e-mail: lilass@optonline.net.
