    3. I anticipate my drawing to be at least 36" wide, unless the writing is a 2 font.....I am thinking of putting my maternal 5-6 generations next to my paternal ?? (at least 5-6) on one sheet of paper. Maybe that is impractical?? judi

    2. Judi, Buy a genealogy program and have the program draw it for you. They do it in a wink of an eye. I use Family Tree Makes for Windows. Does a great job. Pavel

    3. My tree is getting large enough that an 8x11" piece of paper won't do. HOw are people designing their trees? I anticipate mine will be equivalent to a very large picture frame and I don't think that my writing is quite neat enough. ideas, Please! Judi

    1. Re: [CZ] family tree on paper
    2. There are large format forms (tree designs, semi-circles, cascading pedigrees, etc.) available from a variety of sources, or most genealogy programs will print various charts (though you need access to a large format printer - maybe a local copy shop). My favorite, though I don't have photos going back nearly as far as I have documented my ancestors, is a photographic ancestry chart I made up. Each generation sits on top of the preceding one at half the width for each individual photo. Then it is arranged so that the male lines go back to the left and the female lines go to the right. If this sounds interesting, I can post a simplified version of it on a web site. The whole thing is then sized to fit landscape in an 8x10 frame. 3. This is fantastic! Martin Fr (Ferdinand) Bednar is definitely mine. I would love to have the entire text. It is possible that Joseph Jan Zvolanek is also mine. Are there any references to year in the text? We only have Emma Zvolanek but no idea who her parents or siblings are. Now Father Antonin Bednar is someone I have never heard of. I wonder how common the Bednar name was back then. I suppose he could be another branch not directly related. What a lot of priests among these names! 3. Bednars in Nebraska: p. 153 refers to Father Antonin Bednar who is today already deceased (written in 1910). He was born in Chvalkovice na Hane near Olomouc, ordained as a priest on July 5, 1893, and came to America in 1900. He assumed the administration of the Czech Catholic Colony in South Omaha. He died in South Sharon, PA on Feb. 13, 1907. P. 182 The deceased Martin Fr. Bednar, born in Jindrichuv on Nov 12, 1847, was a strap-maker in Schuyler, NE and held the office of county treasurer. He is mentioned in a list of the oldest Czech citizens in Schuyler. p. 184 Father Antonin Bednar is mentioned again as having practiced in South Omaha and then having gone to Howells as a priest. Zvolaneks in TX: p. 59 Pastor Josef Jan Zvolanek was a priest of the Augsburg denomination, had been in practice in Liptal and Vsetin, Moravia, and arrived in Texas soon after Bergmann. He preached sermons in Czech in the German Evangelic church in Cat Spring. He then went to preach at San Felipe, Austin County, visiting Fayetteville, Fayette County. However, Zvolanek led an immoral and dissolute life and that was why he had to leave this colony and he died forgotten somewhere in Wisconsin. He also practiced as a minister in Muscoda, Grant County, WI. If any of these are yours, let me know and I can give you the whole exact text.
