    1. [CZ] CHERNY FAMILY
    2. Are there any descendants of the Vencil Cherny/Mary Herink family out there? They lived in Marysville, Kansas, and are buried in Barneston, Nebraska. I'm trying to finish up my genealogy on Mary (my great aunt) and so far my information is rather sparse. I also would like to hear from any relative as I have unidentified pictures that might be of that family. Thanks...Millie

    1. [CZ] Questions re: 1860's departure and destination of ships
    2. We understand that our great-grandparents (Mathias and Anna Houfek) left Bohemia in 1869, for $50, departing from Bremen, Germany to Liverpool, England, then across the Atlantic, down the St. Lawrence Seaway to the Great Lakes, finally arriving in Chicago and settling in Wisconsin. I have been looking at LDS microfilms of passenger lists at my local LDS Family History Center. Does anyone know: Would their names more likely be in the Liverpool or in the Bremen ship registers? Would they be more likely to have arrived in Baltimore or in New York, if they were heading down the Seaway to Chicago? Thanks, Susanne Houfek Oakland, Ca.

    3. My grandparents immigrated from Western Bohemia(in the village of Falkenau on the Eger) to America in 1904. They landed in Baltimore on June 12, 1904 and settled in Appleton Wisconsin, where I live. I have a date and place where they landed, but I am unable to find any information. I'm not sure where they left from, probably Germany. Any ideas would be appreciated. Barb --------------------------------- Do you Yahoo!? Yahoo! 3. It is hard to understand what is being sought here, but if you want to find any real estate firm anywhere in the Czech Republic, there are a number of ways to do it. You can use Yahoo and just narrow the search down or you can use a search engine like Google and put in the terms: "real estate" "Czech Republic" http://www.google.com/ This will turn up 1,060,000 "hits". You can also use this Goggle link: http://directory.google.com/Top/Regional/Europe/Czech_Republic/Business_and_Economy/Real_Estate/ I hope this helps. In the Google search above, you can put in the name of a region or city to narrow down the search. Also if you put a "+" sign in front of any attribute, it will force the search engine to include that link in every search. 3. everything "I have" is back at the archives in Praha. My trip last week was unsuccessful in terms of finding out anything new about my family (otherwise it was great!) Of note, there was a dialogue about what month to go. Let me tell you, it was VERY crowded for this time of year. I think that that is the way it will be PLUS busier. Hey, did you ever pursue buying real estate in Praha? My friend over there has recommended to wait until EU takes over and then maybe prices will go down. it isn't as cheap as it used to be. ARe you still renting the room from that lady? I have been renting an apt in Praha 7 which I love (but would rather have my own). I brought a real estate mag home this time. na shledanou judi

    1. [CZ] GM's cousin in Cleveland - Varga?
    2. Gale Brown
    3. Hi All, Maybe someone can help my grandmother came to America to live with her cousin. I believe the cousin's name is Anna Varga (the last name might be a little different it was hard to deciper the handwriting but that is the way I'm reading the name I pretty sure the 1st letter is a V and the 4th letter is a g, possibly z). She lived in Cleveland OH on W. 32th St. I also don't know if this was her maiden or married last name. I've tried looking through the V's in the 1900 directory I found on line but can't even find anyone living on W. 32th St. in 1900. Anyone with relation that might have lived on that street or know where else I might look (i.e. an old phone directory on line?). Any help or leads greatly appreciated, Thanks in advance, Gale _________________________________________________________________ Is your PC infected? 3. Yes, and many here also are fortunate because by 1905 the naturalization procedures had been formalized and there is much much more/better information available on those who naturalize. Prior to 1905 you might find a 3X5 index card with names and nothing else (if you are lucky!). Pre-1905 is any man's guess about what is available in the way of naturalization records.
