I also cannot send pictures to my children locally, scanning into Outlook or Express. They will not send. I can send them text. Do you think it has something to do with anti-virus. I have checked and I do not have any virus on my computer. Could it be the settings, I have not changed those either tho. Hi I, at least, (Australia again) purchased two 1880 census films direct from Salt Lake. Not sure but imagine you can purchase on line through Family Search.com still. From memory they were about $15 each. I am hoping that someone on the list can help me with a translation. I found a book about the history of the Domasin area in the Vlasim District of Czech Republik. It was dated 1892. It contains some information on some of my ancestors in Znosim and Lhote Hrazene but I don't know enough to be able to tell what some of the words mean. I am thinking some were about taxes, where people lived and maybe some deaths. Here is what I found: "K Domasinskemu dilu nebo statku r. 1566 toto v. deskach zemsskych Kladeno jest: 3. Carrie, To be certain I understand what you are saying, if a person pays $10.50, then the film is permanently kept by the FHC that borrowed the film? As i recall, that is what happened. I paid about $10-$11 per film and it became a part of the permanent collection at that FHC. I help run the local Family History Center and thought maybe an explanation of the rental policy would help answer some questions. The rental fee of $3.50 is to pay for mailing from the family history Library in Salt Lake and back again. With an estimated mailing time of 2 weeks there and two weeks back that leaves 2 weeks to view the film. For most of us that is not enough time. The film can be renewed two more times for 6 weeks at a time and then becomes indefinite. The total cost of $10.50 is then applied to producing another film so that it can be loaned out to some one else. That way a film is not tied up too long when others want to research the same information. I think it is a very reasonable charge for what we get in return. The reason we are not allowed to take the films out of the Family History Center is due to the agreements made when the LDS are allowed to film the records that the film not leave the premises. Copyrights and all that stuff. Some don't allow the films to leave the Family History Library in Salt Lake at all(Unfortunately those always seem to be the ones I want...)And of course not leaving the building protects the great assets of the library from being lost or stolen. I think each LDS library works independantly. I ordered a film. It came in a week and I was told it would be available for about a month, then if I wanted to, I could re-new. This library said that after a film has been renewed twice it stays there permanently . Maybe they then consider it "paid for". Next time, if possible, why not try a different LDS library. Lil

In a sense we are buying it but it is to use in the Library and kept there for all to use. It is one of many ways that the libraries get such a large collection. I believe it says on the order film that it is rented indefinitely. In which case it stays in that library for as long as the library stands. :-) It is a great way to share since others have done the same so we can look at the other films that are there. Susan
