    1. Komrska - origin - Radkovice
    2. Carol Rogers
    3. Hello Listers, I've now found two related Komrska's that list the same father in these two different ways: Ratkovic next Volyne Ratkovic, by Strakonic I now believe the spelling is Radkovice as that town is just west between Volyne and Strakonice, but much closer to Volyne. Strakonice is listed as 61.8 miles SSW of Prague. Volyne is 68.5 miles SSW of Prague. The problem is, when I try viewing Radkovice on www.mapquest.com , I get 4 that show up. But in checking with all four, it has become clear to me that none of them is the one described above. The only way I can view mine is by looking for Volyne or Strakonice. For both, I have to focus in a notch closer, and then shift the screen once south (if starting with Strakonice). I had to play with this a bit and get a few print outs, comparing surrounding towns before I realized that none of the four listed towns of Radkovice fit in with mine. Therefore, does anyone know where the church records for "my" Radkovice would be? I'm use to reading Catholic church film records of German towns in Baden through my local Family History Center, and was hoping to do the same with my KOMRSKA ancestors - even if I had to learn another language or two! I now have some knowledge of Latin and German. Carol

    3. Those old maps, Mary, that you listed http://mujweb.cz/www/mapy/ for are great! I'm trying to see if I can enlarge them to 100% so I can get a clear print out of them. I need to use a magnifier to view the names of the towns, and thus far have only found how to print the upper left corner of the page. Do you know why? 2. Morning; I would suggest contacting the Cuyahoga County archives, great staff there on Franklin Ave. Then perhaps check with Calvary to see who did the funerals,if you can find thier records it'll probably give you all you need. Also might try _www.cpl.org.,think_ (http://www.cpl.org.,think) thats the obits section, should be something there. If thats not the right web site write me back,I'll look it up for you. 3. Hi, Ceal. I assume you are looking for ideas. One is to check the appropriate census and see if maybe these folks are living with each other, or near each other, as extended families often did in that time period. There may therein be other clues. Another is that the Cleveland library also has online access to their obituary files. I don't recall what time period it covers, but if you can find these folks the obituaries might somehow identify some relationships. If any of these work I'd sure like to hear about it. Joe

    1. CIPRA and HRONEK Cleveland, Ohio
    2. There are three people buried at Calvary Cemetery, Cleveland, Ohio in my great-grandmother's (Julia Horak Stehno) grave, along with three other people who are related. These three may be related to me but I have no idea who they are and have not been able to find any family connection as of yet. James Cipra died 1908 Joseph Cipra died 1899 Josephine Cipra Hronek died 26 March 1915, wife of F.J. Hronek They appear to be two brothers and a sister. Thanks! Ceal

    3. Are those the volume of books titled: "Czechoslovakia Immigration Passenger List"? I'm new to Czech. ancestry, but found my Malecek emigrating ancestor in one of those. I'd be happy to do a look up for you, but it may not be until this weekend. So I'll watch to see if anyone comes forth before then. With them were 15 other persons listing their village as Radkowitz, 4 from Malinetz, 2 from Zinkovy, 1 from Radachow, all traveling together for St. Louis. In using http://mapy,altas.cz/ found all these villages closest to Mecin. - which is where I think I'll research next. - If anyone has further suggestions - I'm all ears. -------------- Previous message -------- I think your logic is perfect here and you should start at this particular Radkowitz. These are not coincidences! You might consider doing a surname check on Ellis Island records to see if there were any other ships later with persons from the same village with the same surname. If you have other surnames, use Steven Morse's search forms for the village and the surnames. http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~elainetmaddox/index.htm Ron Mlejnek --=======287D5EBD======= Content-Type: text/plain; charset=us-ascii; x-avg=cert; x-avg-checked=avg-ok-4578575E Content-Disposition: inline --- Outgoing mail is certified Virus Free.
