    3. I know there are rules to do with names - ie. male and female versions of the same surname. It might be in the archives. But my guess is the name would Mudrunka. I checked the on-line czech telephone directory and found several men with the surname Mudrunka; and several women with the surname Mudrunkova. Here is the link to the telephone directory: http://phonebook.quick.cz/index.php?fce=10&VYMAZFORM=on&id=1 It can be converted to English. I use this as a way of determining the possible correct spellings of Czech names. If I can find it in the directory, I take the chance that the spelling is the correct one. I think the rule is something like this: If the name ends in a vowel, you drop the vowel and add ova to make the feminine version of the name. The rule has much more to it -- but this is my best guess. Welcome any more guesses. Susan W.

    2. Hi - What you received is the response from the site inviting ? you to register your surnames. In the middle of the response, you will see the letter/number combination. This is your personal password. Look for: sd5ae5 If you go back to the e-mail from Elaine (yesterday, I believe), you will see more detailed instructions as to how to go back to the site and enter your email and heslo (password). This will allow you to log into the site and register your surnames. Susan W. > I registered at the Rod & Clan site and this is, I think, the response I > received. 2. The following names have been added to the Czech Surname List: http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~elainetmaddox/czsurname.htm BOROS BROZ DOLECEK FABIK HAVRAN HLAVSA KAHANEK MARTIS MINAR MLYNAR SHOCKAL SLANSKY STEPAN TOBERMAN VALCIK VITEK Occasionally a name is added, but it is not posted on the list. Everyone should periodically check the list for accuracy on the names they previously submitted and to look for duplicate names submitted by others. Currently there are 3000 names in the database and an occasional mistake can slip in. I can only correct a mistakes if I am made aware of it. Ron Mlejnek

My poor maternal surname has no identifying geographical area, not certain what kind of response that will bring, but I figured I would take advantage of your website and stick her surname out there. Thank you for making it easy to enter the information. I hope the subscribers will use these instructions and handle their own registration. 2. Susan Williams
    3. Just wanted to check back in and let people know my experience with the Rod and Clan Website. I found the directions by Honza Uher -- very easy to follow -- in the archives - February 12, 2004. The Rod and Clan site is in Czech but Honza with her English directions makes it very easy to register your names. I also e-mailed about 14-15 people who registered surnames I am researching. Within two days, I received responses from three people. Two people responded in English; the other responded in Czech but I was able to translate using an on-line Cz-English site. Here is the link to this site: http://www.slovnik.cz/ Hope others find it as easy and good luck. Thanks Elaine. Take care. Susan W.

    1. Cities, Villages / Maps
    2. Can anyone tell me what counties (okres) the following cities and villages are in? Radnice--- Olesna--- (located about 10.6 mi. ESE of Radnice, I assume Rokycany county) Liblin--- Olesna--- (located about 2.5 mi. S of Liblin) Plana--- Dobric--- Kopidlo--- Plasy--- Would these counties be the same today as they were in 1850? I was unable to find a map or listing on the Internet of this information. Is there a map or listing on the Internet that gives / shows this sort of information? Thanks, Glenn

The second one will give you a list of towns in each county. Good luck! Mary
