It is difficult to distinguish names on the basis of religion. To me the name sounds Germanic. Further, not all the Jews were killed. I judge that your query is worth pursuing. Have you done any DNA analysis?

Have a wonderful and safe trip Don.... .you are envied by us that have not had the pleasure to meet or know of any distant relatives but hope in the future to be able to visit the places our ancestors called home and perhaps even get to meet a member of our distant family Cheers from Canada Sheila ----- Original Message ----- From: "Don Ondracek" <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Friday, March 24, 2006 7:33 PM Subject: [CZ] Czech Trip > Just want my Czech List friends to know I will be making my second trip to > the Czech Republic in May. Never mind, I can't find it now on foxnews. It must have been yesterday's news. Sorry. Try searching on each of the surnames using "starts with" or "exact" or "sounds like - many" using the Morse web site. If you are not familiar with his varies search tools, they are listed under "Ellis Island Records II": http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~elainetmaddox/index.htm The link is in the yellow bar on the left side of the page. Use the "White Form: Generic form for searching for Passengers in the Ellis Island Database in One Step". Usually you can locate others with the same surname from the same town or a nearby town. That way you can confirm the spelling of the place name from multiple entries. Also, go to the original manifest and carefully read every line. There are numerous transcriptional errors in the Ellis Island database and sometimes the name of a place will be obvious after you check an entire manifest. About 1907 they started using 2 pages for data so be sure you read both page 1 and 2. Also, look up and down the page where the places of origin are written. Sometimes you will find fellow travelers from the same place. Lastly, someone is usually left behind in the place of origin and you can usually find a name and even a house number. If you examine a number of manifests, you will be able to narrow down the places of origin. The later records are even typed so if a sibling or a child came later, you can construct and entire family history if you are lucky. ron mlejnek At 11:38 AM 03/24/2006, Dawna wrote: >I am new to the list and am researching the families of SENKIRIK and >BLEZEK that immigrated to texas from bohemia or moravia in 1907. If you can track where they appeared to live, you might be able to find death certificates and obituaries. Plus possibly other court records. Joe >Thanks, > >Dawna > >
