    3. Thank you for the fascinating information. I am in Prague as we speak and will be meeting my researcher, Jakub and my ???6th cousin. My cousin discovered me through my website, as he was doing research as well. It is the first family that I have met that is still in CR judi ----- Original Message ----- From: Richard Martin To: marshaja ; [email protected] Sent: Saturday, April 01, 2006 12:53 PM Subject: RE: Czechoslovakia to Bremen My ancestors came from Trojanovice, in Moravia. I do not know for certain, but I would imagine that many of them traveled by rail. In my case, from the Frenstat area, through Olomouc and toward Prague, to Dresden and up through Germany to Hamburg and them by carriage to Bremerhaven and Bremen. (I have a more modern map of the rail system in Germany, though I am not sure if there was a direct line from Dresden to Bremen at the time, and I have read personal accounts that spoke of traveling from Moravia to Hamburg, and then to Bremen/Bremerhaven.) My understanding is that the boat fare for 3rd class (the steerage section, which most immigrants took circa 1800-1900) was anywhere from (the equivalent of) $25-$85 or so to travel fro Bremen to America. There were heavy competitions for immigrant business to America, so prices could vary wildly. Some could even make arrangements to work for the ship line in return for passage to America if they could not afford the price of a ticket. I hope this helps you, Judi! What did it cost? My GGM would never talk about any of it to my Mom or GM. I wonder why. judi

    3. I am forwarding this little piece of information. I found it very useful for my own research. -Teresa Hello everyone, I have found a site well worth looking at concerning IGI parish records. Usually the surnames are in alphabetic order so it is a good way to find several members of one family. It is on http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~hughwallis/IGIBatchNumbers.htm Best wishes, Gillian.

    2. I am not related to either of these families but families bearing both names are found in the community of Tours, Texas. Tours is in the northern edge of McLennan County, about 25 miles north of Waco (not far from the community of West). This is the home of Scott Podsednik, who is currently a hot major league baseball player.

I'm not real sure if she lives in Caldwell, Burleson Co or Lee Co. She married Frantisek Becvar, the son of Vaclav Becvar and Mary Unknown before arriving in Texas. Mary arrived in Galveston 10/27/1906 with their 1st 3 children. The manifest indicated that they were going to join husband and father Vaclav Becvar in Dime Box, Texas. According to the Baca Book Vaclav arrived in 1906 but I don't know the full date and haven't found the manifest for him. Since Frantisek/Frank's wife is still alive (born January 20, 1908) I'll contact you off list about her. Kathy
