If yes, did you try to see if one of them became naturalized US citizen? I am pretty sure you know why they changed the surname, right? The CZ's alphabet does not changes like the English/American. Did your ggrandfather live pass 1940? If yes, and not naturalized than he would have an Alien Registration Form. You should try to locate your ggrandfather manifest.

    2. Carol and Bob
    3. Thank you Ron and Betty for assembling these beautiful photos of Prague. We are going to be there in June for a week - our third visit. So the pictures are a nice remembrance and also get us even more excited about going back. My husband's great grandfather Frank Joseph SAFRA was born in Svrabov (now Svatbin) near Kostelec nad Cernymi lesy in 1853. In 1996 we rented a car and drove around the area but never tried to contact any Safra's, worried about communicating in Czech. We don't plan to drive this time but may ask a local researcher for help in the archives. 3. I did take the time and found the pictures exceptionally nice! Thank you for sharing them as not all of us will get the chance to see Prague someday. But for those fortunate enough to travel there, what a wonderful way to prepare for what lies ahead on their visit.
