Are there various versions of the different volumes of the Baca book? I've also spent quite some time looking for my Had and Broz/Brosch ancestors and remaining two Komrska brothers, but gave up on the Baca books as they didn't have anything. Should I be looking for a more recent version than what my library has? I don't have the name of the ship, however. Dolores, I was wondering how you got that information to know what ship to look for? I just have a year of emigration from census records. So I ordered a film for that year and found nothing. I also went through all the listing of passengers on the internet site for those years, as well as subscribed for one year to Ancestry.com's ship records. The only thing that subscription brought me was finding the Komrska parents (gggrfather) and five siblings - which I've since learned were "half" siblings. I was successful with finding my ggf Malecek in the Baca books, though, and lucked out in finding my ggrfather) Komrska - but I'm still missing two of his brothers as the whole family emigrated over a 5 year period. My ggrandparents Had and Broz came over as children, so the family was probably all together. Dolores -- I was just too curious. I looked on shettle seeker - first putting in Prodeslady -- nothing came up. Then I tried just Prodes and up came the following in the Czech Republic - Brodce, Prodlas (with two little dots over the o) -- it is 57.5 miles WNW of Praha. Here is the shettle seeker: http://www.jewishgen.org/ShtetlSeeker/LocTown.asp You can find it on the map easier -- or find something else that looks closer to it. Remember what was transcribed or written in the manifest was what the name of the town sounded like to the writer -- unless the traveler had an official document with the correct name. Hope this helps. Thank you all for your help finding my GGP's Antos and Janecek. At last I have their immigration ship. Baca lists their village as Proselady and Ancestry lists the village at Prodeslady. They were aboard a German ship. dolores desideri Looking for: Desideri, Innocenti, Lupori, Lenzi, Priban, Preban, Janecek, and Antos.

Dolores, I believe that there actually is no such name in Czech as "Antos;" the name is actually "Antos^" (hacek-s), pronounced "AHN-tosh." It could perhaps be variously misspelled by Germans and Anglo-Americans as Antash, Antosh, Ontosh, Ontash, Antasch, Antosch, Ontasch, Ontosch, Untosh, Untash, Untosch, Untasch, Hantash, Hantosh, Hontash, Hontosh, Hantasch, Hantosch, Entos, Entosh, Entosch, etc., atd., usw. Since you did not seem to specify US port of entry, I checked the Baca Books Vol. 6 and 9, for NYC and Balto. in the 1880s, resp. and found several entries for Antos, including the following (I did not check Galveston, and neither NO nor Mobile are included): Vojtech Antos, age 24, arr. Balto. on the SS "Main" 13 Oct 1886. Dominik Antos, 41, Anna 43, Julie 17, Vincenz 13, Marie 11, hedwig, 9, Stepan 7, Anna 4, Franz 3, from Kobelinice, Moravia; arr. Balto. on the "Gera" on 30 May 1894, bound for Lincoln, NE. Franz Antosch, 30, Maria 28, Johann 11/12, arr. Balto. on the SS "Hermann" 16 June 1880, bound for Nebraska. Franz Antosch, 27, arr. NY on the "Ohio" 7 June 1881. There are lots and lots of Janaceks/Janeceks/Janiceks/Janecks, etc. I did not spend the time to match Antos dates with Janacek dates, but it could be done. There are also entries for both in Filby's PILI, which is in book form and on Ancestry.com. If you are not already aware of it, you might also try the ISTG site: http://immigrantships.net/index.html Specific search page for Antos results: http://search.freefind.com/find.html?pageid=r&id=45264389&mode=ALL&query=antos&ics=1&fr=0 There is also the German Emigration site for the Deutsche Auswandere Haus in Bremerhaven. Their records are not yet online, but they will do lookups for a fee. http://www.dah-bremerhaven.de/english/hauptseite_e.html Hope you can get something out of all this. If you need me to do lookups in Baca or PILI, please give me more information and I will look. Hello to Minnesota researchers! There was a Brosch/Broz family in St. Louis, Missouri, in the mid 1800's that moved for a few years to Minnesota and I'm trying to find out any trails of info they left in Minnesota. A marriage record in 1901 in St. Louis lists an Arnold Zimmerli from Dallas, TX, married to Agnes Broz, daughter of Joannes Broz and Maria Kozlik from New Prague, Minnesota. From 1900 census and church records in St. Louis, the following info was found: Joannis Brosch - father - b. June 1826 Bohemia (son of Wenceslaus Brosch and Rosarice? Kral) mg. 21 May 1856 at St. John Nepomuk Church in St. Louis d. 18 Dec 1904 St. Louis Maria Kozlik - mother - b. Feb 1834 Bohemia d. 22 May 1917 St. Louis Children: 1) Maria b. 23 Feb 1857 St. Louis mg. Joseph Nemetz/Nemec about 1879 d. 18 Feb 1938 St. Louis 2) Josepha/Josephine b. 12 Feb 1859 St. Louis 3) Adelaide (Sophia) b. 14 Dec 1862 St. Louis 4) Rosa b. about 1867 Minnesota 5) Eva b. about 1869 Minnesota 6) Agnes b. about 1871 Minnesota 7) Justina b. about 1876 Missouri Joseph Nemetz and Maria Broz had a child, John Joseph, who was married to Mary Carolina Komrska (known as May) in the early 1900's. May died in 1918 at the young age of 30, leaving a 7 year old son. Any information on this Brosch family would be appreciated. May's brother, my grandfather, married the daughter of Stephen Malecek and Barbara Broz/Brosch. I've got some ancestral history of Barbara Brosch from Dolni Lukavice, Czech Republic, and would like to find out if this other Brosch family was related. Carol Rogers
