I don't know if this will help ... but I have experienced problems like this before -- especially with types of food, or more obscure plants and trees etc. I suggest she try using/finding the Latin name for the plant. Many botanical books provide that .... it might be an easier link to the word her Czech relatives would understand. We have different dates as to when he came to USA: Es gibt unterschiedliche Angaben darüber, wann er nach den USA einwanderte: 1. in June 25th 1867 on his first Naturalization paper, probably the most accurate. In seiner ersten Einbürgerungspapieren, wahrscheinlich die genaueren, wird der 25. Juni 1867 genannt. 2. in 1864 found in his obituary . Seine Todesanzeige nennt das Jahr 1864. 3. 1870 according to the 1900 census. Sie hatten sechs Kinder: Six children were born: John Friedrich, George Friedrich, Ida, Arthur and 2 infants died. John Friedrich, George Friedrich, Ida, Arthur und zwei Kinder starben. John Fred Kruger died 3-18-1922 and is buried in the German Lutheran Cemetery, west of Barnesville, Minnesota. John Fred Krüger verstarb am 18. Krueger was born on the 16th day of August, 1847, in Preusen, Germany, and died march 18th, at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Ole Nyeng, east of the city, being 74 years, 7 months and 2 days old. he came to this country in 1864 and was married in 1887, his wife preceding him in death 5 years ago. To this union were born four children, one of whom, Arthur F. Krueger, was killed in the world war. Those surviving are George Krueger, Mrs. Ole Nyeng, and John Krueger, the latter of Cincinnati, Ohio. he is also survived by three step-children, 16 grandchildren and one great grand child. Mr. Krueger has been in failing health for some time, but only during the last few days was confined to his bed. The funeral was held from the German Evangelical church Wednesday afternoon at 2 o'clock. Rev. Karl G. Kissling officating, and the remains were laid to rest in the German cemetery. The pall bearers were Emil Fankhanel, Casper Wohlwend, Fred Weidel, John Specht, Paul Tuski and J.F. Tschabold. John F. Krüger wurde am 16. August 1874 in Preußen, Deutschland geboren und verstarb am 18. März im östlich von Barnesville gelegenen Hause seiner Tochter, Mrs. Ole Nyeng. Er wurde 74 Jahre, 7 Monate und 2 Tage alt. Er wanderte 1864 in die USA ein und heiratete im Jahre 1887. Seine Ehefrau verstarb vor 5 Jahren. Aus der Ehe gingen 4 Kinder hervor; ein Sohn fiel im (1.) Weltkrieg. Hinterbliebene sind George Krüger, Mrs. Ole Nyeng und John Krüger, Letzterer aus Cincinnati, Bundesstaat Ohio. Unter den Hinterbliebenen befinden sich 3 Stiefkinder, 16 Großkinder und ein Urgroßkind. Mr. Krüger war bereits seit einiger Zeit erkrankt, doch nur während weniger Tage ans Bett gefesselt. Die Beerdigung erfolgte am Mittwochnachmittag um 14 Uhr von der Deutschen Evangelischen Kirche aus. Die Aussegnung erfolgte durch Pastor Karl G. Kissling und die sterblichen Überreste wurden auf dem deutschen Friedhof zur letzten Ruhe gebettet. Could anyone help me with this, I wonder. On a list of persons who requested to live in Prague, 1850-1914, there is a listing for a Josef Breburda born 1820. There are two listings for him, one lists his birth place as "Neudorf." There are many towns by that, name so difficult to know which one here. However, on another listing for him in the place for birth place there is a word which I cannot decipher due to the old handwriting. It's either "Gisafoly," "Gisafaly," or it could even be "Gifisoh" or even something else, since I can't be certain if the letters are an "f" or an "s," or exactly what the final letter is. Would someone have any idea of what this word could mean...is this actually the name of a town or does it mean something else entirely? ShtetlSeeker comes up with nothing.. Thanks for any help.
