I agree with Kuba Krchak, there is a number of different Czech groups on Facebook. They are becoming over lapping. Today, I myself are on five (5) of those groups. Some are general information, others Genealogy and than DNA results. Sometimes, like Kuba mentioned, persons enter their same information/request on more than one site. On FB you can do a search in a group by poster, topic or just a key word. I stand corrected .... to search on ancestry you must pay a fee. It is the family trees ... your ability to keep them, etc. that is still free. However, as with the research you cannot see another's tree without their permission ... and you can invite others to see your tree. I understand the message boards are free .... have not used them recently. familysearch.org is continuing to add more and more information ... so that is definitey a plus ... and it is free. You just need to register with a username and password. I would like to see this group move to groups.io rather than the Family Search or Wikitree sites. Hope you consider this suggestion.Thanks.Anna Franklin. ----- Original Message ----- From: czech-request@rootsweb.com To: czech@rootsweb.com Sent: Wed, 08 Jan 2020 19:12:24 -0700 (MST) Subject: CZECH Digest, Vol 15, Issue 5 Send CZECH mailing list submissions to czech@rootsweb.com To subscribe via email send a message with subject subscribe and body subscribe to czech-request@rootsweb.com To unsubscribe via email send a message with subject unsubscribe and body unsubscribe to czech-request@rootsweb.com You can reach the person managing the list at czech-owner@rootsweb.com When replying, please edit your Subject line so it is more specific than "Re: Contents of CZECH digest..."
I do realize some don't like ancestry because of membership fees. Keep in mind though that you can maintain family trees, add to them, connect with others without being a member paying annual feels. I do it all the time ... haven't paid fees in years and I keep adding trees as I find them. Of course, they would like you to join but it is not necessary. I have also done ancestry dna ... this helped me connect with people who have in turn helped me complete a few of my Bohemian families. Just a thought for everyone. Susan I would be interested in joining a Facebook page or Family Search page ... just cannot figure out how to do it. > On January 8, 2020 at 9:11 PM Diana <anym0use@sbcglobal.net> wrote: > > > Interested in joining group on Facebook. I have started a new free community on FamilySearch called Czechia (Czech Republic) Research for asking questions and find new sites to help you with your research. I don't know if my link will work but if you go to Communities.FamilySearch.org you will find it in the group. Since this message group will be discontinued I wanted to make you aware of what I have started. Thanks.
