    1. [CZE-SEVEROCESKY] CADA & PETELICK Surnames
    2. Stephen Speltz
    3. I am a new poster to this list. I am searching for the ancestral village of my maternal gg grandfather & gg grandmother. Can anyone narrow the search based on the following facts: 1. Marianne PETELICK was born circa Sep 1848 in Bohemia. 2. Mathias CADA was born 31 Dec 1849 in Bohemia. 3. Mathias CADA married Marianne PETELICK circa 1868-70. 4. Johanne G. CADA was born to this union in Jul 1871. 5. Marie Theresa CADA was born to this union on 20 Jan 1874. 6. The family of 4 immigrated to the USA aboard the SS Ohio departing Bremen Germany, arriving in Baltimore, Maryland on 26 April 1875. 7. They immediately proceeded to Winona, Minnesota and settled in a Bohemian community there. I have been told that CADA is a common name throughout Bohemia, PETELICK not so common. The same source stated that the area where these surnames could have crossed paths is southwest of Prague around Plzen. I have not been able to verify this. Thanks for the help that anyone can provide. Stephen E. Speltz stilcruzen@nc.rr.com

    1. [CZE-SEVER.] ROLL CALL. PIETSCHMANN, HESSE
    2. I am researching PIETSCHMANN and HESSE My g-g-grandfather, Johann Anton PIETSCHMAN/PITSCHMANN was born on 28 June 1783 in Tomasov (Thomasdorf by Nixdorf) and baptized at St. Mikulase Katolische Kirche, Mikulasovce, Bohemia. His father was Johann Jacob PIETSCHMANN, and his mother was born Anna Marie HESSE. They married in 1776. They lived at Thomasdorf Nr. 2. About 1800 the family moved to Bad Frankenhausen, Thuringia. The church was destroyed by fire in 1780, so earlier records are difficult to find. I would be interested in corresponding and sharing with others who have these names. LaVerne

    1. [CZE-SEVER.] Semi-Annual Roll Call
    2. Vince Leibowitz
    3. Greetings, List: It is time once again for our twice-a-year Roll Call. As most of you know who have been on the list a while, Roll Calls are conducted once between Christmas and the new year and once after Memorial Day. To participate in the roll call, send a message to the list which meets the following guidelines: 1.) Includes in the subject line the words ROLL CALL and the surname such as: "Roll Call: DOE" 2.) Include in the message a brief synopsis of the information you have on the family as well as any additional information you are seeking. 3.) Include your EMAIL ADDRESS; replies to roll call postings should be done off-list. 4.) Include the URL of your genealogy webpage, if you have one. Please keep your messages short, but include any pertinent information that would help another reader determine whether or not they have information which would pertain to your line. Also, remember that these messages are ARCHIVED through rootsweb, so even if you don't find the information you are looking for now, someone doing a search may find your message later and be able to assist you. If you have questions, please feel free to ask. The roll call will run from May 26 until June 2, 2003 at midnight, EST. Please don't post roll call messages after that time. Also, please remember that we do a roll call twice a year and that only the listmanager can call a roll call. This is because, as new members join the group, if each one posted a roll call, that would take up a great deal of the lists' time. Thanks, Vince Leibowitz

    1. [CZE-SEVER.] Roll Call: PIETSCHMANN and HESSE
    2. Here are the families I am researching. P.I.E.T.S.C.H.M.A.N.N and H.E.S.S.E. My great great grandfather, Johann Anton PIETSCHMANN or PITSCHMANN was born on 28 Jun 1783 in Thomasdorf, near Nixdorf, and baptized at St. Mikulase Katolische Kirche, Mikulasovce, Bohemia. His father was Johann Jacob PIETSCHMANN and his mother was Anna Maria HESSE. They lived in Thomasdorf Nr. 2. Since the church was destroyed by fire about 1780, I have been unable to learn more about Johann Jacob and Anna Maria. They seem to have moved to Frankenhausen, Thuringen about that time. I would be interested in corresponding and sharing with others who have these names. Happy New Year, LaVerne

    1. [CZE-SEVER.] Annual End-Year Roll Call
    2. Vince Leibowitz
    3. Greetings, List Members: As you know, for the past several years, roll calls have been initiated the list during June and December. Our December roll call is usually the largest because so many people with new computers or new Internet software make their way on to the lists. As part of the roll-call each member is invited (not required) to post a message with a brief synopsis of the ancestors they are researching, including relevant dates, places, etc. to the list. An example would be as follows: Seeking information on the John Jay DOE family. John Jay DOE, born 12/12/1810, Richmond, VA, died 01/01/1901, Austin, Texas Married ( on 04/04/1844 in Long Island, NY) Elizabeth Sue SMITH, born 01/09/1817, Richmond, VA, death date & place unknown (or something along those lines.) Please remember to CHANGE THE SUBJECT of the message when you reply. The subject should read something like: John & Myra Winston DOE Family. (Accurate subjects also help when the messages are archived by rootsweb.com) The roll call will end at midnight on January 1, 2003. All list members are asked to respond to the roll call (should they desire) prior to that time. Roll Calls are conducted twice a year and only on the instruction of the list administrator. This is so the list won't get flooded for roll call requests every time someone new joins the list. Best Wishes & Happy Holidays, Vince Leibowitz List Moderator

    1. [CZE-SEVEROCHESKY] Pietschman from Tomasov and Nixdorf
    2. Does this list include the villages of Tomasov and Nixdorf, near Mikulasovce, in the Aussig District of the old Bohemia? My ggggrandfather Johann Anton PIETSCHMANN was born there on 28 June 1783. Since the church in Mikulasovce burned in 1780 I am having difficulty finding more information. He moved to Frankenhausen in Thuringia where he married in 1814. I would be interested in corresponding with anyone with the PIETSCHMANN or HESSE names. LaVerne ltboehmke@aol.com
