There are certainly more than enough people here to consider a roll-call. A list is not active unless people post. Apparently no one has had anything to say. Elaine ------------------------------------------------- Hi, Betty. I'm with you. I've been on this list for quite some time and have not seen a lot of postings. I think we need to ask for a rollcall similar to other forums where each individual is encouraged to write in and list what surnames or locations they are working on. I'll be happy to join you in that! Dear Betty, the list is few visited, sorry You know we had occasionally contact in the last years. I could you not help in your Hanus/Hanusch search, because you know not the correct place of origin. Jakub from Brno wrote me that your Jan Hanus was born 1854 in Velvary and that your Hanus's came seeming also earlier from this district. I'm glad that you could find this place of origin after all your search in all this years. I'm sorry, I and also Jakub could't see any connection between our Hanus families in the moment. When you will, please write me what Jakub has found and what you know as yet about you family in Velvary. I will this keep. Maybe I can find something about your family in the future. best wishes Lars Hanusch Chemnitz, Germany http://www.lars-hanusch.de PS: I'm driven through Velvary at my way from Chemnitz to Melnik for 3 weeks. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Betty Ronken" <bettyr890@att.net> To: <CZE-JIHOCESKY@rootsweb.com> Sent: Monday, May 19, 2008 7:18 PM Subject: [CZE-JIHOCESKY] anyone? >I have no mail coming in on this list since joining. I have no mail coming in on this list since joining. Is there anyone out there? Is the list not active? I am interested in the names of Hanus/ Hanusch, Pechar, Vondrak, Krousl and others. Betty
I am researching my grandmother's family. Josefa Matschl born Pleschen, Austria 1886, Parents: Johann Matschl born 1850, Catharina Albrecht born about 1850, Grandmother Maria Fidler born in Schlag, Bohemia. Barbara Kuss born in Frauenthal. I am planning a trip to Czech Republic in July 2007 and would like any information regarding this part of the Country. I have heard that some of the population were German. How can I find out if my grandmother was Czech or German? Can anyone recommend a book that would tell me about the history of this region. Thank you. Hi, after years of research I found out my Linduska Family was from Tyn Nad Vltavou. I'm interested in corresponding with others that are tracing this line or know any information about this family as there hardly seems to be any people with that surname. Also, can someone point me in the right direction to write for certificates for the late 1800/early 1900's? Thank you Keith keefer68@msn.com
If anyone has volume V and/or volume VIII of the Leo Baca Czech passenger list books and is willing to do a small look-up, would you please contact me? Thanks! Debra Minar Driscoll minar53@msn.com<mailto:minar53@msn.com>

Hello, I am new on this list and am looking for anyone searching the last name of HANUS. I am interested in a Jan or Johann HANUS born about July of 1854. Don't know wife's name, but two sons born in Bohemia were Franz or Frantisek about 1879 and Wenzl or Vaclav about 1882. Thank you for any help, Betty
Hello List, I am researching the history of the people who lived in the Kristanov (Christianberg) area. This area is northwest of Cesky Krumlov. The specific village that I am seeking more information about is the village of Miesau. Some information that I have received states that the village of Miesau is mentioned as early as 1395. If anyone has any information on the area or the early settlers in the area, I would appreciate it if you would contact me. Additionally, any help or suggestions on finding information on this area would be appreciated. Thank you. Nick Mizaur Omaha, Nebraska
I am looking for any information on the Smola family that lived in Zlešice, Volyne, and Bohumilice. My gg grandfather, Frank Smola (son of John Smola), was born 03 September 1841 in this region of Bohemia. He married Josefa Dlonhos (spelling?) and had seven children: Frank, Josephine, Mary, Antonia, Frances, Bella, and John (names Anglicized). The family emigrated to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania in two groups - Frank and the elder children in 1882 and Josefa and the other children in 1883. I have lots of information to share on this family. I am particularly looking for relatives still in Czech Republic. Thanks, Shaun

Greetings, Listers: It is time once again for our semi-annual roll call. As most you know that have been on the list for at least six months, twice a year I call for a "roll call" so that we may share information about the lines we are working on so that everyone on the list may be made aware of that information, and hopefully find some much-needed links. We had quite a nice response to the last Roll Call, and I'm sure we will this time, too. I just want to take a moment and lay the ground rules: The roll call will run from Sunday, July 7 to Sunday, July 14, 2002. All Roll Call responses should be posted by that time. When posting a roll call message, REPLY/SEND DIRECTLY TO THE LIST, and not to me, the list owner. In the subject line, place the words ROLL CALL and whatever surnames you are working on, or a location you are seeking information on for the surname, etc. Please keep subject lines brief. As always, if you have any questions, please contact me at vpltz@vzinet.com. So, 3....2....1....Let the roll call begin! Vince Leibowitz List Administrator
