I am trying to locate information about my paternal g-grandfather, James Romanus Norris (JRN) . My grandfather and father told me many years ago that JRN was a spy for the CSA. He lived in St. Mary's Co., MD and died there in 1894. The story that was handed down through my grandfather was that his father was a CSA spy and that he was incarcerated at Point Lookout prison. Do you know of any surviving records of prisoner rosters? Do you know of any records of reunions of the Point Lookout survivors years later? Would a CSA spy be eligible for a CSA war service pension? Would his widow (died - 1952) be eligible to receive the war pension? The nature of "spying" probably leaves a foggy trail. Would there be records of CSA prisoners taken at Gettysburg?
