BARNES b. 1843 and a William BARNES (unknown) ALL joined together at Carterville GA 14 Mar 1862 William Henry and Andrew J. both returned to Cherokee Co GA after the war William Henry married Lucrecia Evaline BOGGS Andrew J. married Mary Adeline POTTS Also, Solomon WADE b 1830 GA enlisted in Van Den Corput's Cherokee Lt. Artillery Co "A" 3rd Bat. he enlisted 19 Feb 1862 he died at Camp Chase OH, just a few weeks before the end of the war! An added note: I was adopted and my adopted family's ancestor was the family that founded Camp Chase....(Salmon P. CHASE) AND their ancestor was in the C.War, Heber CHASE, who also died in prison, at Salisbury, NC, on the other side. I cried when I learned the details of Camp Chase as I had known of Heber and his letters home...his two little boys and wife that he had left in the tiny hamlet in Maine. But to know that my blood ancestor, Solomon WADE, the poor miller from Georgia, had died at that very prison, broke my heart. In one particular letter, Heber had written, to his wife, "...and Anna, they (the southern soldiers) seem just like us, their love of country and home....and we stopped the firing and sang carols together." So the war brought much sorrow to many many families. May we all find peace at this holy time of year.
