Nearly all the information I have about the Cutts family in America is to be found in Stackpole, Everett S, Old Kittery and her Families, Lewiston, Maine, 1903; reprinted Somersworth, New Hampshire, New England History Press, 1981, 1985. Brothers John and Richard Cutt[s] settled in Strawberry Bank (now Portsmouth, New Hampshire) before 1646. Whether they came directly from England, or via the West Indies is not known, nor is there record of marriage or children. A few years later, their brother, Robert came from the West Indies and settled in Kittery, Maine, on the east bank of the Piscataqua, across from Strawberry Bank. He owned a shipyard in Kittery. His wife was Mary Hoel, daughter of a C of E priest, whom he had married in the West Indies. He had two sons, Richard and Robert. Richard married in 1686 Joanna, daughter of Thomas and Lucy (Treworgy) Wills of Kittery. Among their twelve children was Thomas, born 16 April 1700, married, 23 April 1724, Dorcas, daughter of Judge Joseph and Hannah (Storer) Hammond. Thomas died 10 January 1795, Thomas and Dorcas had a son, Robert, born 19 September 1734, who married, 18 November or 21 December 1758, Lydia (born 1 January 1740), daughter of Joseph and Mary (Fernald) Fernald. Robert (son of Robert) married, 18 April 1698, Dorcas Hammond, daughter of Maj, Joseph and Katherine (Frost) Hammond (Aunt of Dorcas, wife of Thomas Cutts). I am unable to identify the other individuals mentioned. I hope this is some help. Merlin
